Try and bring in some innovative ideas, there is already a Fiverr site that offers $5 gigs and addons, so having the same clone site wont attract any new customers.

Try offering something that fiverr doesn't like reduced fees, less waiting time to get the money etc.

Try and bring in something that will draw the users, after all you want it to be successful.

    Cheers and Best of Luck

There are plenty of Fiverr clones out there on the internet, so as TopClass has mentioned, you need to offer something different to get both buyers and sellers on your website.

Your site can only be successful if you give provide something excellent, and then market it very effectively. Reduced fees would be your best bet to divert traffic from established sites to yours, but it will also take a lot of effort and creative thinking

Think of Twentyerr .... ?? You will get lot of people interested in offering service. Coming to people buying these gigs, it is a different subject altogether.

think about adding some privileges like VIPs or points system, or maybe even reviews section,
you can hire some coder from freelancer to add that sections,

it will give you the uniqueness that attracts people.

Since there are so many Fiverr clones around, I suggest you make yours very specific like voiceover gigs only or logos.

It's only an example, but a specialty site will allow you to operate and coexist with the big boys without having to shortchange yourself.

Yea you gotta think out of the box for this. Why go to your site when we cana go to Fiverr? Gotta offer something that trumps them.

    • You want traffic?

      Offer gigs for free.

I'm entirely serious. Most clown site owners have absolutely no idea how to promote their sites. Offer a free gig to anyone who can present you with proof they've made 5 non-spam links to your site.

Worry about how to price after you actually have a stream of visitors.

I have to agree you want to be unquie with everything, even though we know it is a clone site why don`t you tell us something that is different from fiverr and other popular clone sites

Maybe you can add a feature thats more impressive than fiverr! Like "give a gig for free" Kinda like clients can give gifts to other clients and things maybe a trade can happen something really unique and different!
It Would go far thats for sure!

You are right at this rate there will soon be 1000's of clones of fiverr.

To survive you really need to think out of the box.

Tweak it until it's perfect. Figure out what's wrong with Fiverr and then improve upon it. It's the Steve Jobs way.

There's a ton of clones out there, some better than fiverr, some worse, none have the traffic fiverr does though. I'm facing the same problem with my lead competition everyone's determined to step over $100 to pick $5 for an inferior service.

true there is many fiverr clone sites already, and traffic mostly goes to fiverr. But its not impossible to beat it, difference your sites to fiverr sites. Add more feature, do research on what fiverr lack, like how facebook dominated friendster on social media back then..

Lots of good ideas.. one thing i hate about fiverr is there customer service is the worst i made $28 in sales waited weeks before i could cash out and soon as i did they banned me with no reason and never replied to any emails.. im offering live help chat and better customer service. i think im going to stay with the $5 niche and just be the fiverr killer site.

I think that its overdone....although I would like to see a site where things cost like $20 where higher quality is the selling point, rather than the whole "cheap" thing...People will part with $20 just as quick as they will $5!

I've done this too, I had a fiverr clone plugin made for wordpress...where you can define the price ranges...ie you can charge a set price like fiverr...or you could make it more upmarket and have the starting price at $500 and the top price $20K

here's my site wpgig | Micro Job Site

It's not finished quite, all the functionality is there and I'm getting a pro theme designed.

The idea has a lot of possibilities and it's a winner for anyone who wants their own micro job/freelancing site.

At the end of the day it's how good you market it, if you feel that you can compete with Fiverr...then why not charge more for your services...but why will someone come to your $10 site when they can get the same on fiverr?

My idea is different, I'm after anyone who either wants a fiverr clone or a specialized freelancing site...run on Wordpress.

$10 is better because $5 limits you. $20 is a lot to most people and $100 is not gonna bring in much money. I know that a fast nickle beats a slow dime every time, but people want more than $4 which is what you end up getting from FIVerr anyway. $10 is enough to create a simple web page. There you go.

Thanks to everyones suggestions i changed the site to $5, $10, $15, $20, or $25.
I also made it even better than fiverr because it only takes 2 days for payout (fiverr is 14) and i made all sales 10% commission (fiverr is 20%) i think this should be a good selling point and i thank everyone who posted some tips..

my site is at GuruWarrior if you want to check it out.

I suggest you to make your site to focus on one niche such as IM. And try to reduce the fee for only $0.5 instead $1. Fiverr wins on publication because they have reported on many media. You can beat them if you have solid team and marketing plan.

    Here is my 2c

Whatever you decide to do (and that could be a general site or something a bit more narrowed down) think about having a slightly higher gig price and working in an affiliate system.

That way, if someone is providing a good gig, others can send people to that gig and earn a small commission for doing so. Do make sure that you have the facility to add or remove affiliate capability for each gig as a seller.

ROB: Add this facility to your plug in!

I like to second on Paleochora comment.

The gig price at fiverr is not really attractive for quality producer. Although its purpose is different. But you can add an option of offering multiple gig prices. But that may change your niche.

The idea of adding an affiliate system will help you in promoting your site.

But still you need something more to shine in competition. Maybe things like better payment system and more payment options other then paypal will help you further.

Make a site where seller can choose a price between 1-20$ . This would add great amount of freedom for the seller and possibly attract sellers.

As i said in my last reply, the fee is only 10% so only $0.50 fiverr is 20%

So far I have to say that my experiences with all sites that were fiverr clones - I posted all my services, (same type) on about five sites like fiverr - yet fiverr is the only place I am making any sales. I would say it is likely because of the high amount of traffic they get.

I think there'd be more interest in capturing a niche of Fiverr.

A site dedicated to the top order requests on Fiverr rather than another Fiverr clone. Until your site hits off, people will use Fiverr.

As a successful fiverr clone owner.

It's all about traffic, traffic, traffic.

I bring in thousands of fresh uniques daily and 98% of them have never heard of fiverr.

A lot of "big shot" marketers in here live in a bubble. I am amazed when I chat with people outside of IM that have never heard of big sites like fiverr, kickstarter etc....

    My clone does EXTREMELY well

I get most of mine off of twitter. Lots of buyers, lots of posters. I post all of the jobs for my posters and they get hundreds of hits and plenty of sales from just my promotion alone.

You can listen to people that don't have clones and think they need to weigh in on the subject for some reason...

Or you can listen to the few on this forum that have actually done it.
