Google Controversial new privacy policy will it effect Internet Marketing?

I normally try not to post controversial threads, it usually ends up degenerating into a flame fest. However, this is important, because what is hidden in the fine print is Evil.

This is not only a Google thing but also companies like Amazon.com have also changed the way they are doing business, and it is a very scary thing, there are portions of Amazons new policies, that grant Amazon the right to take your intellectual property and do what ever they want to do with it.

This is ironic right, because recently SOPA and PIPA were opposed by 74 percent of Americans and other nations world wide, this is the next attack on your freedom and it is designed to get you to suddenly reverse your support for SOPA and PIPA, Get that if you get nothing else here.

This is nothing more than a thinly veiled, political attempt to produce the next version of SOPA and PIPA, the Vehicle they have chosen to do this with is using a Unconstitutional Unlawful policy that will cause the FTC and the DOJ to come in and demolish these companies.

I think we can all agree that this is bad, very bad, the single most important thing here is the concept of intellectual property, it is what gives us the freedom to develop products, advertise them on websites like youtube.com

But if from a future date, like March, everything you put on youtube becomes the property of youtube, to use in any way they want, to use in commercials to use your face without your permission in commercials to promote google services, to track your location, without your permission, to track the location using your cell phone, and then sell that data to business companies that may have a business located in an area where you travel frequently.

Now I ask you, is this not Evil...

There are two videos you should see, the first one is a little disturbing...

(it actually might get taken down before you see it, but you should be very concerned)

The second video is here, and it is really an eye opener.

Sorry there is a pre-roll Advertisement, featuring jerry seinfeld

(while it is slightly entertaining)

I personally think that the choice to view an advertisement should reside solely with the viewer.

As you may know the FTC and the DOJ are actively investigating Google for possible violations of several agreements, (one of them allegedly is to do no Evil) LOL, sorry could not help it,

the truth is that very soon now, you might find that you do not want to use google any longer.

If you choose to continue to use google services, you might be giving up any rights to live as a human, right now, you have the right to agree or disagree, that your face, your videos, your intellectual property, can or cannot be used.

You have that right here on this forum, you can agree, to allow video you post to be used in certain ways or not, however that is about to change, if Google has its Mighty Way, you could find yourself and or your face picture, your videos used in Google advertising commercials.

You might find that any thing that you submit to places, like Amazon now has become, the property of Amazon, including any intellectual property, ideas, patents, and or any other thing that they want to do with it.

Yes, you should be afraid, you should be very afraid, not only is Google doing this but also Amazon.com

This is a real problem that you should be very concerned about, and yes there are alternatives.

Perhaps it is time that the Internet Marketing format stops using Youtube because it is no longer a safe format to use, think about the hours you work to create a video, and then to have that video be used by youtube in any way they want.

That is wrong, I know this is likely to be a very controversial thread, sorry for that, but I think this is important.

If you feel strongly about this, you should voice your opinion, because if you do not you may find that you no longer have a choice in the matter.

You have a choice to make, to continue to use google or to stop using google and use another service because there are other services, we do not have to use youtube.

We can use Bing.

we can use Facebook...

But how long before this Anti-IP language spreads like a cancer all over the internet?

Beware you have been warned, if you have any videos that are now private, that you serve up to only certain members, or clients, you might consider removing them before the new rules take place.

Because after that date, (march I think) any videos that are on youtube become the exclusive property of youtube to do with what ever they want, including possibly being used against you in a court case.

Yes, think about that for a moment.

What if you said something in a rant, video on youtube, and someone decided to sue you, they could use that video in court, against you and likely they would win.

My friends if that is not Evil, I do not know what is...

Good luck with youtube, as for me I think I will find alternatives to google and youtube because the environment looks like a toxic sludge of Evil.

    Tim,

Thank you for posting this and linking to the BlackWaterOpsDotCom video -- which makes it very clear why Google's "Don't Be Evil" motto has become even more vomit-worthy.

[Sidenote: The hypocrisy came into stark relief with SideWiki a couple of years ago. What ever did become of that, by the way? Is it still out there, intrusively appearing on my sites without my consent, allowing my competitors to slag me off on my own site, and so on? Or was it put to rest?]

    And, yep, first video nuked.

Anyway, I suspect that your post is pretty much wasted on the Warrior Forum -- evinced by the fact that it's 23 days old yet it has only had one response (now two!) and just 69 views (including mine).

I doubt most "internet marketers" are at all concerned about the IP of the garbage with which they clog up YouTube, the purpose of which is nothing more than traffic, baby, traffic... to useless blogs plastered with banner ads for MMO scam products. Or CPA offers for dodgy, undisclosed recurring billing operations. Or flogs. Or any manner of other tripe.

If there are 10,000 members of this forum (Note: I have no idea how many members there are), I'd wager only about 100 -- at most -- are posting anything of substance on a topic they care about and wouldn't want used in the way the video discusses.

So while your post was obviously well-meaning, you'd be better off posting it in a learn [instrument] forum or [name of software] tips forum or [teaching & training] forum or [motor racing] forum or [sport] coaching & tips forum, etc. Places where people really give out the best info they can in their videos, about a topic they're genuinely passionate about, in a genuine effort to help people.

Google's unlikely to be using pathetic product review powerpoints or lame affiliate pre-sell videos in their advertising any time soon so very few people here will care.

Now, can anyone recommend a good automated Gmail & YouTube account creator because I need to get 500 more accounts for my outsourced video articles?

Yes, your correct, I post sometimes just to spead the word, in few months from now when this subject becomes a valid issue, there will be plenty of posts about this subject,

Right now I am acting on the information, preparing for the changes that I can see plainly written on the wall, it tells a story that few people realize at this point in time.

Very soon though that will change, low quality content will become obsolete over time but the real threat has been cleverly disguised.

What so many do not realize right now is that many of these large companies are getting ready to dump affiliate marketing because it presents a great risk and with the new FTC guides that risk is becoming far too great.

All these things spell out the future of making money online and it is not in affiliate marketing.

Things wont change until the google fan boys consult a proctologist and head theor heads surgically extracted.

Once the pr for google become untenable things will change. I suspect as Bing gains market share and FB finally launches its SE google will be forced to be more respectful if its users

If people would stop being parasites on other people's web properties, then Internet Marketing would not be so threatened.

YouTube pays for the bandwidth that we use when we post videos on their site. If we were consuming our own bandwidth to deliver those videos, then we would not be in danger.

I think the whole issue can be summed up by something that I saw in Skype the other day.

We were talking about a website that could help us market our goods, because it provides its own advertising platform, and someone popped into the conversation to ask, "Is this a website that we can exploit for free?"

Yep. So long as we are trying to exploit some resource for free, much as a parasite exploits its host, then we may be in danger of giving control of our Intellectual Property to the third-party we are trying to exploit.
