How to keep repeat customers

I usually don't contribute by giving solutions in this forum because I'm not an internet marketer. I'm only a business owner who basically comes here to learn, and not to give lessons. However, I have something to say about my experiences offline (I had a store for more than 20 years and at the same time I worked as a psychotherapist) and my experiences online (from the beginning of 2007) working with mental health, one of the most complicated fields online and offline. It's very good to provide a service and have regular customers. You can also sell many things always to the same customers. I see that the same rule that maintains a business offline, maintains a business online. Repeat customers are everything you need in order to succeed. Those who trust you and know that you are not an impostor will gladly pay for your services or buy your products, because they know that you will really help them. You are their friend.I give discounts to my customers many times, and they never had to ask me to do so. I keep a regular communication with them. My customers know that they can trust me, and they are very happy for this reason. My offline store gave me a lot of money based on the same customers who would buy clothes every season. I see the same thing happening online, with those who trust my psychotherapy. Basically, the same people are always asking for my services. Always the same people? Yes, this is what happens to solid businesses. Always the same and the same people. Of course, new people will come, but those who will keep buying forever will form a loyal group, which is more than precious for you.Keeping repeat customers is crucial for your business. This is a law.In order to do so you have to sell really good products or provide excellent services, and make your customers feel that you protect them; you are their best friend. Of course, you should really be their best friend, because they will regularly give you money. Your repeat customers are your bosses. You must serve them with dedication and really help those who will regularly give their support to your business.

It seems like great customer service and a product that gives the consumer a compelling reason to come back will create repeat customers.

      I agree totally with Michael,
If you give the customer a good product which will help and have good support then that customer is going to come back to you for more help.

Here's a couple of things that work for getting AND keeping repeat customers

    - Be personal. Learn the names and other stuff about them. Use it. It makes your customer feel special. And if you like people this isn't hard at all.

    - Be consistent. Your repeat customer should get the same experience over and over again, because if they are a repeat customer they obviously liked what you were doing.

And always remember that repeat customers cost less than new ones. Every time.

I make it my GOAL to keep a client for LIFE.

I give price breaks and keep my billable hours down for small things that I SHOULD charge for but my clients ALWAYS think of me first when starting a new project fo that reason.

To answer this question all you have to do is think about the current services and products you are using already ( i.e cell phone service, cable TV, restaurants, etc) and ask yourself this " What is making me come back and use this product or service".

For me its usually the customer service and the quality of the product or service. Even modeling yourself after some of the big fortune 500 companies can give you some success keeping and retaining repeat customers.

It's no secret that giving QUALITY content is the key.

Many will argue that you must GIVE freely and not try to profit off of every last person every time you connect with them.

I agree with this as well, but how do you balance what you GIVE and what is worth charging for?

Your time and knowledge are still valuable, so how do you achieve this?

I think that what it all comes down to, whether it is an online or offline business, is trust. It's up to the business owner/website operator to build trust with their customers.

So the focus should be on how do you build that trust with your customers?? I know what turns me off is signing up to an email list and then receiving 1-3 emails a day about how they just bought the latest WSO and how that it is a "must-have" product. When that happens I start to ignore those emails and eventually, unsubscribe because I no longer trust what that person has to say.

Everything you do should focus on trust.

Great thread. Here's a couple of methods I use to try and turn as many people on my list into repeat customers.

    1) Give Them Something Extra With Every Purchase:- When I release a new WSO or product I usually create an extra complementary product just for my list. For example, if I've just released a PLR pack I might create an exclusive complementary keyword research pack just for my list. I don't charge them anything extra for this. I just send it out to them for free once they purchase the main product.

    2) Give Them A Paid Product For Free Occasionally:- Another thing that I find works really well is to give them one of your paid products for free with absolutely no strings attached. Don't do this too often or you won't have anything to sell. However, every once in a while surprise them with a free copy of your latest product. I find I get a lot of thank you's when I do this. Then when I do my next product launch I find a lot of those people who thanked me for the freebie end up buying so it definitely works at generating repeat sales.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom
