Your toughts on blog commenting

Hi ladies and gents,

I have about 6 blogs and the're all connected in one way or another, I wanted to start commenting on the posts I make but as a user not admin... it would be very time consuming if I where to start commenting on each one daily.. if there any softawere that would help me post on my own blogs?

I've see the Ninja blog software but I dont think it would do what I'm looking for. any ideas?

Speaking from experience, just keep putting up good solid unique content and do proper SEO and they will come. Nothing wrong with posting your own comments on your own site I don't think. I've never done it, but I would avoid using software to do this for you if you're going to go outside of yourself for posting. Most auto generated commenting is junk. You don't want comments like, "Great post man, this information has truly changed my life and I am looking forward to sharing with others". Why wouldn't you want a post like this? If it's genuine, that's great. If it's auto generated however, you will see this same EXACT comment pop up multiple times on your blog. Even multiple times on the same post.

If you're looking for something to auto generate your own post comments, I'm not aware of software to do that for you. I would check around here on the forum first, after that maybe check for a plugin if you're using WP.

    Good luck!

I'm not sure how commenting on your own blogs as a user will really help you. It's likely that when the search engines see the blog and the user comments all coming from the same IP address you will get dinged.
I agree with rltenny above, great and unique content that is SEO'd is what' going to get people coming to your blog and commenting. And consistency is key - blogging everyday is the way to go if you want to start seeing traffic.

    Hope that helps.

    Good luck!

Yes thats what I want to do, I dont want to automate fake posts..I'd like to use something like submiteaze where you have control on your own submission..its manually being done but facilitates life..and ofcourse proxy would have to be used cause we dont want the same ip..

I knew I should of went to school for programming...Damm it!

If you really want comments on your blog, you can get comments from Fiverr users that are relevant and not spammy crap.

You don't need to comment on your own blogs. This is similar of how people create fake forum posts to make it seem like it's active. Just keep writing good content everyday, and over time your visitors will come, and more and more people will comment on your blog for you. Believe in your business.

Couldn't agree with this more. More often than not too, it doesn't bring the results you hope it would bring anyway. No need to stir up anything. You can just call a friend you know and have them post on your blog if anything... call a few friends and get this rolling, if you really need to have something put down that is. I would just let it roll though. There are blog entries on blogs out there by major blog sites that have no comments... more people tend to come for the read, some may post, but more people just read, take it all in, and keep it movin'.

That wouldn't be a good idea.

If you are commenting on YOUR blogs, with links to YOUR other web sites, is cross-linking. The search engines know you own the web sites, via whois.sc. Even, if you use another username, unless it is private.

there are software available for doing blog commenting. but avoid them if you want to be safe and believe me or not those comments are just too much lame.
i can give you my own thinking, just continue posting fresh and regular posts about your topics. don't think about the comments. when you will see that visitors are coming then the comments will be automatically generated by those visitors! and that's the real process!

DON'T use automated blog commenting software. As a poster above mentioned, they just post generic, and stupid sounding comments. Most people believe Google does not like these fake links, specially in large quantities. You are best off leaving manual comments yourself. If you don't have time to do this, you can always outsoruce it to someone.

Whether it is a good idea to leave comments on just your own blogs is debatable as well. I think it's okay to have a few cross linking backlinks, but don't overdo it.

You have raised a valid point here.

A blog devoid comments is not going to entice new visitors to comment.

Have you ever noticed how people shy from eating in an empty restaurant?

Very few want to show off there latest moves by walking onto an empty dance floor.

If your blog has a number of comments already in place then people are more likely to join in - they will also assume you have more authority and know what your talking about.

Having said that though. I don't think you should at all use software to do this. A much better way is to get active on other peoples blogs. So get around on the internet and start writing relevant comments to other peoples blogs who are also starting out. Help them out and let them know you appreciate them and then have your blogs in the 'website' part and I guarantee a majority will come back over and comment on your blog.

Are you using wordpress? If so then get comment luv? This adds extra depth as you also get a link back to your site each time you comment.

I've got a question on this. I normally disable the comments on my blogs because otherwise you get FLOODED with automated spammy comments. I'd love to allow genuine visitors to leave comments, but I don't want to deal with having to moderate a dozen different blogs to erase all the spam. What's the best way to allow commenting, without having to deal with all the spammers?

      Rob - use this plugin:

      Growmap anti-spambot plugin

Its very simple - it places a tick box which says 'Are you Human?'. Spam comment bots can't read that and tick the box and so they fail.

It words great and is simple and free unlike akismet.

I use it on all my sites and it eliminated all spam.

That's one of the reasons I don't care to use Wordpress... noticed it before, even with putting the comments on "approve" status, you still get inundated with a bunch of comments that you have to try to sort through and not approve, just like you said. I had looked before too for a plugin, but didn't have luck with it back then so I stopped using Wordpress for the time being. I'm sure there's probably something out there now though. That would help big time.

If you want to attain or maintain quality blogs then you should consider manual posting of useful content, rather than posting auto comments that have nothing to with the topic. You should participate in your blogs by posting "good stuff" then over time your blogs will become "authority blogs" with high PR and high traffic.

Don't bother. Just keep writing good content. I have never worried about it and get comments organically.

I have found if you do things with the idea of providing real information and real value to real people, you do pretty well all the way around.
