What type of traffic are you talking about? Solo ads, cpv, banner ads? Be more specific and we can give you more insight on whether it will convert or not. We need to know the source of the traffic

From my experience, the answer is 99.99999 percent of the time NO< paid traffic, PTC, (Traffic Exchanges, are even worse) usually do not convert, in fact a lot of the time these traffic sources are not even people but a sophisticated clicking robot that will get your ad-sense account banned, your affiliate accounts terminated, and on top of all that you will not make one dime.

Avoid it like it was marked with a skull and cross bones,

Back in the days of yore, (several years ago now)

The search engines, could not really tell much about where traffic is coming from but that has changed with newer technology, IPV 6, provides so much more data, so these days if your using these kinds of very low value traffic your likely to end up in a very bad situation.

Getting good traffic is hard, but it is way more practical than paying for it, because trust me I have tried them all, from a few bucks on Ebay to Hundreds of dollars on premium traffic companies, and none of them ever produced much in the way of quality traffic.

You are better off focusing your efforts on building a better website with better content, that will attract more traffic than all of the paid traffic you can imagine.

Paid traffic can work but can get expensive so you would have to be more specific about what type of paid traffic you planning on using.

The only paid traffic technique that I know works well if you do it right, is PPC.

First you need to specify what type of buying traffic you are talking about because different types have different factors involved and outcomes.

Many factors could figure in this also

    * depends upon the type of traffic
    * depends if the traffic is incentivized
    * depends upon the offer you have (free or paid for product/service)
    * depends upon if you have targeting options
    * depends upon where the original traffic is coming from

These are just a few factors to consider, there are more.

If you want to have bots as your main audience than yes. But if you want to have humans for visitors, try other sources of traffic (for example > adwords, adbrite, chitika,...). This is why google is where it is

I've never bought traffic before. Just ranking in the SERPs with ethical SEO has always gotten me plenty of traffic.

The only way I would consider paid traffic would be if it were from a trusted source and that source could deliver me qualified visitors. Since I doubt that that resource is available, I will not go looking for it. If anyone were to tell me how to get to that resource, I would be listening.

Unless your site is a lot different, I would recommend against buying traffic. Bots, or only slightly better....people from 3rd world countries paid to click are not going to help your bottom line.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

In my case It didn't work. I don't know if the traffic that I bought was the factor but after that my site got penalized.
