Newbieish New Marketerish Guy (ish!)

Howdy folks! How's it going? (What am I talking about? I'm not even American!)

A Little About Me

I'm 21 and from England and I've been writing salesletters, products and scripts for Clickbank pitches for about 10 months. I've worked extremely unqualifiedily on some major Clickbank products but only as hired help rather than as a pivotal role. I've also helped do a little bit of formatting and programming here and there on several projects.

I have no money so I'm doing everything on a budget. (But who cares? It's only cotton!)

What I'm Doing At The Moment

I've just started my own company (translation: I bought a domain :rolleyes and my real passion in marketing via Clickbank in the dating niche.

This is what I'm working on at the moment:

Mind Reader Dating - The Complete Science Of Seduction - Capture
Mind Reader Dating - The Complete Science Of Seduction - Salescopy
Mind Reader Dating - The Complete Science Of Seduction - JV Page

I do more or less everything on this project myself and it's taken around 3 weeks to complete. It's done on as close to zero a budget as possible. I'm completely driven to make something of myself and I really believe I could do great things. This is my first attempt.

I've began contacting affiliates (I have a list of around 200 dating affiliates to contact, I'm about around 20 in) but I've gotten no responses so far. I'm going to go loco on contacting these guys though. Persistance I think is key.

I'd love some advice from Warrior Forum. Not just on the site linked above but in general. Any pitfalls, traps, mistakes? Any Clickbank tips and tricks? Anything I've done wrong? If somebody could take a look through the above URLS and criticize it as much as possible I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks a lot guys (and girls)! I can't wait to get started in marketing. This is my first ever product and project.

Jordan

Nice job on getting the British page 3 models to allow you to use their photos.

If you haven't received a single response from twenty recruitment attempts, you may want to consider changing how you approach potential affiliates. Without giving away too much information (sorry, but I earn money by selling this information), your initial contact should basically follow this outline:

    1. Your name, you're the publisher of _______ (whatever your product is called), and one brief sentence describing (not selling) your product.

    2. Their site would be a good fit for your product, you would like to form a relationship, and please let you know what kind of arrangements are available.

    3. The product's commission percentage for affiliates, the fact that ClickBank tracks the sales and sends out the checks, and the fact that you may also be interested in traditional advertising opportunities.

    4. If they're already offering other affiliate products, mention that and suggest that they may also want to make your information available to their visitors.

Keep it short and sweet, and if there's room in your niche for a new affiliate product, you'll get responses.

Thanks a lot for your advice man, I really appreciate it.

I worked my way down from the top of the list. The big guys first, many of them seem to be VERY picky over who they promote. Maybe I'm being naive but I think this could be a factor?

My email is friendly and quite light hearted.

Attached to the email is a .PDF I have written that breaks down affiliate commissions, launch dates, pricing of the product, etc.

Rather than going for "PUSH MY PRODUCT" I asked them what they have lined up, expressed an interest in their product and marketing. (I wrote a generic email and then tweak it depending on the affiliate). I always try and follow the rule of "Kill 'em with kindness."

I usually like to build a relationship with affiliates first, this was how I learnt originally, but do you think it'd be better to be more direct? I got one response but the guy was very rude. He seemed offended that a pleb would dare besmirch his inbox! Ah well!

I've sent 24 emails now, albeit 7 of them were send 30 minutes ago and the rest around 20-24 hours ago.

It's always better to be direct when recruiting affiliates. Your email should be as short as possible while conveying those key points I mentioned. This way, you seem like you're actually busy, not to mention respectful of the fact that they're busy as well. It's safe to say that 99% of your potential affiliates have no interest in telling you what they have lined up, or how their day went, or whatever. :p

And, yes, the fact that you're approaching superaffiliates first will definitely have an effect on your success rate. You have to work your way up to that, and you also have to understand that, to some extent, getting those guys on board is always a longshot, because they already have a successful business established and are now tweaking instead of building.

Plus, if the only people you're approaching are superaffiliates (or existing affiliates on any level), you won't get optimum results, because there are a lot of great potential affiliates out there who have never sold an affiliate product before.

I hear ya I'm going to re-direct my approach tomorrow.

Do you think I should attempt to re-engage with affiliates (non-super) I have already emailed with a new improved email in a week or so?

Or is it a "learn from it, move on" move?

Haha I feel like I'm flirting with a girl and I've got to toe the line.

I never move on unless they get PO'd and tell me to do so.

Persistence works wonders. Just wait a couple weeks between contact attempts, and be sure your followup emails don't make it seem like you've forgotten that you already contacted them.
