Calander Alert Program

Can anyone recommend any sort of calendar alert program?
I need to be able to type in an event up to a year in advance
and be able to be alerted to this on the date.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Have you looked at the Google Calendar?

    You can set up events with both pop-up and email
    reminders.
