Offering The Same Product To Your List Smart?

Hi,

Basically I have a small list right now of only around 100 subscribers in a new niche I just got started in and was wanting to go ahead and offer my membership site to my list. I have already sent 4 messages to my list that were helpful and personal.

So I would like to go ahead and offer my membership site but heres the deal.

I feel like I should wait to offer the membership site until I hit say 500 subscribers because I would have to send the offer out to new members etc as they join.

So I have 100 right now but perhaps in a week I have 250, so I sent the first email offering the membership site to my list once and dont want to bug or "spam" them with the offer again. Im using aweber and wondering if theres a way around this or should I simply send the membership site offer to my list say once a week?

So I want to promote my membership site but at the same time I dont want to bug my list if you know what I mean. I would like to hear from other warriors on what they do. Thanks to anyone who can help

    Hi

I've been using Aweber to manage my lists for about 8 months, total subscribers about 1,100 (so I'm far from an 'expert').

    As I understand it (and maybe a more experienced Warrior will correct me) you have 2 options for sending messages;

Broadcast - a one off message to everyone on your list at the time it is sent.

Follow up - one of a series of messages sent in a sequence to every new subscriber.

The solution is, therefore, to do a 'follow up' message to promote your membership site, this will only be seen by each subscriber once, the existing subscribers get it as soon as it is added to your Aweber account, subsequent subscribers get it in sequence with your other follow up messages.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks Stuart. But the thing is I really believe its important to build a relationship with your list before you offer them the membership site.

I feel that new subscribers will get the feeling of "oh, so thats why he's giving me the free ebook so he can pitch his membership site" if its the first email they see opposed to a free guide and 3-6 free informative messages.

After they get the free guide and free help from me they might actually start to trust me and realize that my membership site might actually help them. So I really want to build a relationship with my list before I try to offer the membership site.

1st understand the follow ups & broadcast. if you have 100 peoples in the list, probably they all got your 4 messages in sequence of days or time frame you set it up. Every new leads who joins will get sequence of mail according to your setup.

Broadcast is different than follow up. If you want to send a particular mail to all leads then you go to broadcast & send it.

Simple, just arrange the follow up messages in correct order & forget about it. Aweber will take care of things. No confusions.

Thanks Jassim. But I thought with the broadcast feature you could only set dates. So let me use this as an example:

I set my broadcast to send like this:

    message 1 goes out 2/12/09
    message 2 goes out 2/15/09
    message 3 goes out 2/18/09

Now if I had a new member join say on 2/11/09 he would get the first message on 2/12/09 but another member who joins on 2/13/09 would miss that first message that was sent on 2/12/09.

    See what im saying here?

I know the followup message goes to all leads who sign up, but I really need my to say write a months worth of broadcast messages that go out to all of my leads. The first broadcast message would need to go to everyone who joins, but how is this possible when I set the date and new subscribers join after the first broadcast message?

Right - a follow up message is what you need for this. If you want to send 6 information messages, then make #8 your membership promotion message.

I think most people expect you to be promoting some sort of product though, so don't be too shy about mentioning it. After all - most of the quality information out there on the net is generated by someone making money. Who wants to hear from a guy who just posts "informative" information without actually building a business himself!

So email your useful information to your list, but bring it back to why joining your membership site would enable them to make even better use of this information, or why you have to keep the "real" secrets for members. Then it's the readers choice to join or not...

Just saw your last post - follow up messages are sent a number of days after joining the list. So someone who joins on the 6th gets day 1 on the 7th, day 2 on the 8th, etc. Someone joining on the 10th gets day 1 on the 11th, day 2 on the 12th, etc. Does that help?

Thanks Gary! So your saying that you can make more than 1 follow up message and even schedule them? If so then thats the answer I suppose because it puts everyone on the same path to recieve the same messages no matter what the time they join.

That's right - when you setup your follow-up messages in AWeber, you set each one to be sent a certain number of days after the previous one, starting with an immediate message when they confirm their subscription. Then you can create your "month of emails" to be every day, every 3rd day, or any random pattern of days you want!
