Thanks for the encouragement.... its just that when you're new and everyone else seem to be talking about how much optins and cash they raked in; you can't help but think you are doing something def wrong..... you know what i mean!!

Whatever you do, don't quit. Keep trying new methods and read more and more information to hone your craft. I was somewhat successful with my first campaign and then failed with the next five. I learned so much more from the failures that enabled me to find success down the road.

Keep building backlinks to get your website to page 1 on Google for targeted keywords. If you think you can't do it yet for your main keyword(s), do a research and make a list of long tailed keywords that are related to the niche. Use Google Keyword tool to find those. Depending on your niche and your product, try to rank for long tailed phrases that have action verbs in them like "buy", "get" etc... hopefully you get the idea. Good luck!

How competitive are the keywords that you are trying to rank for? how many monthly searches are they getting (exact match)? That is a good place to start once you know this then you can work out what you need to do in order to get it to first position and if it is worth the effort.

    Hope this helps

thanks... the keyword is quite competitive but i was thinking that with that kind of constant number of visitors per month i would see some decent amount of opt-ins, dont you think??

    Hi,

Well done on publishing and maintaining a website with traffic!

    Awesome.

THAT'S THE FIRST (AND HARDEST) STEP DONE AND DUSTED

    Next step...

...Converting some of that traffic into subscribers.

What's your strategy, and why do you think it isn't working so far?

    I'd check whether it's:

    a) bad traffic -- perhaps people are hitting your site and not finding content they're expecting to see based on the keywords they searched for

    b) bad offer -- how are you trying to collect subscribers? Are you offering a compelling reason (or ethical bribe) for them to sign up?

    Cheers,
    Steve

Give something your target market wants bad enough to give them your name and email address for. have an opting page on your site giving it away and then you email 2X per day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. Your business will pick up belkieve me.

Maybe start a little bit of A/B testing? At least with your opt-in forms. Most autoresponder services have that capability.

Sometimes your value proposition isn't compelling enough for visitors. I have a site that brings in about 250 visitors a day and I only have 3 people on my list (obviously I need to change what I am offering). On another site I get 70/day for a single blog post and get about 10 -15 opt-ins a day.

Start testing new forms and offering something else of value. You'll be fine.

by the way, 150 visitors/mo is pretty good for not being on page one. Keep it up.
