I know why most of us can't succeed!

Most of us, including me, can't succeed, because we are not used to the idea of making thousands. Making hundred thousand dollars a year or more feels surreal to us. In order to become successful, we need to overcome this, but that's only possible by actually making that kind of money. It's a paradox.

  • most people have a workers mentality. Do the work. Get paid. In the online business world or in business offline as well you have to have delayed gratification. Make your plans. Work your plan and never give up.

    • This ^

The real secret is to shake off the worker bee mentality and start creating value for the long term.

Most successful entrepreneurs make their money from recurring incomes.
  • I agree with both of you. People do have the worker mentality. I did too until I said to myself, "What if I work this hard for myself."
  • It really is about who you know. sometimes you just get lucky.

Firstly, move to motivation section please.

Secondly. most can't succeed is individually defined. Your reason for failure isn't mine nor the person above me, or, the person above the person above me.

Lack of success is a personal evaluation, journey, search, etc.

    • Good luck with that kind of attitude.
  • I believe if you were making $20 per day, it would give you the motivation to keep pressing on, to see more increase in your business. So i don't think there would be a paradox in this situation.
  • It's funny...once you do hit 100k, you realize it's not that much money at all. Then of course Uncle Sam gets his cut. And your state get's it cut. And then the local community gets it cut (through property taxes)...lol

    • Even though people are somehow able to survive on much less, 100k really isn't much.

  • I think that many people fail because they get frustrated very easy. When I started I didn't know what do and made a lot of mistakes, I didn't quit and 3 months later I reached 1k monthly.

    • Persistence is key when it comes to IM, most people think that they will make money with doing minimal work and it absolutely does not work like that in the beginning.

  • I'm giving away a freebie on this topic. Not being able to intellectually comprehend certain amounts of money is certainly part of the equation, but a bigger part of the equation is that we look outside of ourselves for the answer. We try to implement systems according to what has worked for others (or so they tell us). Instead, we need to work in those areas that make sense to us on a core level, start seeing small successes with those and then ramp up. Once we get the hang of it, THEN we can start trying some of the more esoteric approaches.
  • If you didn't read Robert Kiyosaki's book "Rich dad, poor dad", get it immediately
I can tell you guys, Robert's perspective of finance changes my life completely. After reading the book a couple of years ago, I started here as an IM, and just got the idea of what was necessary to do to become succesful on this business.
A lot of work is involved, no doubt about that. But the KEY THING is the correct mindset, and for my case in particular, that Book Made the difference.
  • Many people start and after not seeing results within their 2-3 month period (or even earlier) give up. Myself, I couldn't earn anything for first 6 month and I've been sitting at the computer for up to 10 hours per day, but that's because I was not a fast learner and I got confused when too much info came at me at the same time. By now I learned how to filter out crap and how to focus myself better.

After seeing crazy offers like "700 per day on autopilot", "300 per day with 5 minutes of work" blah blah blah, many people assume it's really easy to earn money online and after they fail they think that it's not for them. That's all not true. The way I think about it is that those "gurus" give you general ideas, but you really have to put your own twist to be successful. That's just my opinion...
  • Try to break down into smaller goals...by achieving those smaller goals, you will eventually get to your goals!

  • I have no problem with the idea of making a six figure income. I did that for about 10 years and I'm used to it. But now that I'm starting my own business, I have had to get used to not having so much cash in my pocket. I'm much more frugal on everything except investing in the business.

I also know what my biggest challenge is... I don't like the sales process. I have an entire business in place, I have accumulated thousands of potential leads in my database, I have tools for contacting them with offers. I have a platform to provide all of my services, and a great website to conduct the transactions.

But I seem to be doing everything I can to avoid making sales pitches. I guess I'm a catcher and not a pitcher. :-) Is this a problem? Damn straight, and it's one I must overcome!
  • Focus is the key. I fell for the trap of buying a new WSO or two or three a week, and hope something works with only minimal effort. Things are turning around, now that I am staying with one idea, long enough to get traffic flowing to some sites. 2012 is the year of focus and payoffs.
  • People don't want to work. Call something a "done for you system" and you can make $100,000 just from that.

    • Yes, most people don't want to work. I'm kinda in that category, but not really. I love working, but I have to know my work will amount to something and I think that's sort of impossible. It all comes down to believing in one's self.

  • People need to stop thinking about taking action, and actually take action.
It sounds lame, and overused, but it is really so true.
If people just took action, and took action every single day for a year, they would be shocked what they achieved at the end of 12 months!
  • I think is very important to make your first sale online.

I made my first sale in 1994, & since then I never look back.
  • So has anyone offered a solution to the paradox that the OP mentions?
  • I remember being new ~ I wanted to know what html was all about and what it could do lol I bought a book and wrote my pages in notepad. I started to learn more code online and saw some ads about SEO ~ I started to read forum posts and just wanted to test this method of making money via organic search and affiliate marketing. I remember the day I checked in to my stats and saw that my effort led to 3 air purifier sales,... All I could think of was I'm broke and this just worked, somebody owes me almost $130. I had chills and ran through the house yelling (I made sales someone owes me money) It didn't take long and I was making very good money day in and day out. I had no expectations it was just a test.
  • Interesting thread !! Money, Money money !!

most people fail online simply because they have been brought up like we all have and that is to get what we can !!

This has been inbuilt into us all as part of our survival skills

What you must remember is your prospects have been brought up having those same survival skills drilled into them, get a good education, get a good job, get a good partner, get a good house, get a good car, have good holidays etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc !!

So do you think that if you thought more about giving than receiving that maybe, just maybe you may sit very nicely into the hands of the very people you eventually want to be your future !!

    YES, YES, YES !!

Because this is one of the foundations of any business ok

    GIVE AND RECEIVE !!

    All the very best
    Steven
