Will niche marketing always work?

Do you think, due to competition, all niches can be saturated one day? I guess they won't even be niches anymore. Is that possible?

Theres always going to be niches.
New niches are popping up everyday so I don't think saturation is an issue.

Good question. Deeper than most people realize. Niche marketing will not only always work, it's the only thing that works now. It will only grow more urgent to apply niche marketing principles as the marketplace grows more competitive.

Anyone who is not studying niche marketing will be replaced by those who do, whatever product or service you market. It's a subject that should not be ignored.

Today one of the biggest challenges for marketers is to stay out of the "look just alike zone" with competitors. Now more and more products and services is starting to look like similar products to the consumer.

Differentiating yourself from the growing crowd of competition is the challenge now - and will only increase.

Yes, niche marketing is hear to stay as long as people have specialized needs (my definition of a niche) niches will exist.

The world constantly turns, and new niches are always opening up...

And when you look at the number of exploitable long-tails and sub-markets of each niche; it becomes never -ending.

Even if all markets were being targeted, who says you can't do it better? I own some major terms in some big markets; and they didn't happen overnight. I'm sure you've heard the tortoise and the hare story... slow and steady and keep on pushing (well, not always slow - but always steady!)

The short answer is Yes! New products are always on the horizon.

As long as there are free markets where individuals can dream of new things, create new products, etc., then there will "always" be new niche markets.

The way you get them to work is always evolving.

    Hey ckbank,

    Think of it this way.

    Problems are Markets

As we evolve new problems are being created
    all the time.

The best thing you can do is to focus on becoming
very highly skilled at serving a market and solving
    problems.

Once you are highly skilled and ready to go, a whole
new market will open up and you will be ready to make
    a killing.

The other way is to constantly chase yesterdays markets
and just enter as another 'me to' marketer. This is what you
are probably seeing a lot of.

It's just noise....focus on becoming excellent and your opportunity
    will show itself.

    Hope this helps

    Nathan got it!

Don't think in terms of just niches. People always have problems that need solutions.

Some problems are ageless: How do I raise children? How do I stay healthy?

Some problems come and go: How do I fix my beeper? What is a smart phone?

Whether you try to find better solutions for age-old problems, or offer innovative solutions to new ones as they spring up, there's always a niche on the horizon!

No 'global niche over-saturation' in sight my friend.

Not just due to competition but because Google does not hide its hate for small-time affiliate marketers.
It's not that Google hates small time affiliate marketers,
It's just the fact that 'most' small time affiliates are just
out to make money and publish low quality rubbish.

Google wants to give the user the most relevant, high
    quality information...so do that!

They just hate badly trained affiliate marketers

There is no such thing as over-saturated niches; there is only over-saturated marketing methods.

Each individual will have his own way of finding out niches and it is not going to saturate anyway.

Two things will always prevail, no matter what the circumstances (in my opinion):

    1) Effective marketing methods
    2) Innovation

The answer is yes. A niche is something liked by a group of targeted people.

There will always be groups of targeted people. The popular niches might change but there is always going to be new niches.

Of course niche marketing will always work.

There will always be plastic for the straws of our drinks, metals for the bolts of screws, handles or accessories for door knobs to get in and out, carpets to walk on, mattresses to sleep on, fans to keep it cool, wood for the entertainment stand, plastic for the TV, glass for the light bulb, etc..

Btw.. just a brief thought of what I have in the home. These companies that produce this stuff usually outsource their needs to create their products.

To be honest, I don't know. One day it might not work, but this isn't something we should be focused on.

It works now and that is important. Go where the demand is and you will be always good. If niches don't work, there will be something even more powerful and if you keep up with the world changes, you shouldn't be thinking about this.

It's a good question though. I believe there will always be demand for wealth, beauty, and relationships. No matter in what form.
