Ideal Number of New Articles

I'm making a new informational site which I'll be making money from adsese with.

What is the ideal number of new, unique, high quality articles I should post to it per week?

I've heard google won't like if you just throw up 30 new posts in the first day but as far as a long term plan, what's the perfect way to go (assume there is no issue making lots of articles. I write articles for other people and do a lot of them and all my clients are very happy with the quality).

My thought was...
First 3 weeks, 7 new articles per week
From then on, 3 or 4 new articles per week.

Does that sound good or should I do more, or less? Thoughts?

    I believe you have a good plan in place. Whenever I create a new Blog I usually try to post a new article to it every day for a couple of weeks and then every other day afterwards and this usually gets my site ranked highly very quickly.

    I think the key is not necessarily 'how much', rather focus on being consistent. One of the keys to success with any website is to be consistent and also make sure you're adding high-quality content.

    That's the short answer but consistency is key... I'd also say up-front try to post daily for a few months then slow down to a less frequent but still consistent posting schedule.

    Sure there is no rule, but I put in another vote for one a day, sounds like a good strategy. Plus, it wouldn't be a ton or new stuff for visitors to go through. And I think it would look better, to the search engines, a site that updates every day for a long time.

    I just realized that I can schedule when my posts are published with word press. So, as I have time I'll just pump out 5-10 new articles and schedule them for daily posting (at random times of the day).

    I currently write a minimum of 5 500 word articles per day (often many more) for other people in my writing business so this should not be a problem.

    Hopefully this works out well.

    This is a good plan, definitely.
    The best part is you can "drip" them in by adding them all right away, but scheduling them for later dates (assuming that you are using WordPress or something similar).

    However, you could get away with 5 articles the first 3 weeks and 1-2 articles the weeks after that if you don't have the budget for a high percentage of foundational/headline content. It isn't just quantity that matters, it is quality that matters most of all.

    It really depends on your business plan, your niche, and your website, but I
    recommend seeding your website with 10 articles, so you can get going with a solid
    content base. Not your average fluffy web article though; instead, focus on
    extremely high-value content between 800 - 1300 words.

    Then, you can tone it down to about one article per week, maintaining consistency
    and quality as you go.

    If you want to test out how the number of articles affect traffic later on, after your
    earnings stabilize and plateau, try writing less and/or more to see what kind of
    impact doing so has. You may find your site does well with one article per month.
    You may find it's better to add two per week.

    Every niche, and indeed site, is different.

    To give credit where it's due, I'm picking up the rough guidelines here from posts
    by MYOB and Alexa Smith, with some of my own experiences and observations
    tossed in the mix. This is how I now manage my own content, and it seems to
    work well.

    That seems reasonable. Try to have as much new fresh quality content as possible. That can be difficult to produce, but not impossible it seems.

    According to me quantity doesn't matter quality matters ,You post thousand of new articles but if content of the article is not unique or interesting so visitors not like your thousand of articles .....So maintain the quality of your work you get all you deserve ...

    There's a lot of variables, depending mostly on what your market is and what you're trying to accomplish. But generally I'd say, keep consistent. Release something well written on the same days of the week or whatnot. Personally, I say generally to release two articles a week, say every Tuesday and Thursday.

    It's already a good plan. On your 1st 3 weeks, you will be writing 1 article everyday x 7 days = 7 new articles per week. Increase that amount after 3 weeks is also great, just make sure that your articles are always relevant, attractive and gives value to your readers.

    There is no fix quantity required but try to do one article in a day and i think it would be better for you.

    That seems like a really good plan to me. You're right, it's not a good idea throwing too many on your site too quick. Build them gradually like that, and work on generating traffic on the side. Happy posting

    I'll share an "article marketing secret" with you: the money people make is often inversely proportional to the number of articles they produce. Because income doesn't really depend on "article quantity" at all, but on how much time/energy/effort/attention/skill they can put into getting their articles widely read by highly targeted traffic. And you can't possibly do that if you're busy writing articles all day.

    Each of my niche sites gets updated with a new article three times a month. That's all they need, to build the residual income base of my business from month to month.

    The security, stability and growth of your income (in other words, the "making a living" part) just isn't about how many articles you have: it's about how you use them, and where they're syndicated after you've had them indexed on your own site.

      Thanks. I've read that post you linked to before (and many other's from you). That's good to know that I can drop how many articles I write down significantly but is that the case even at first? Don't I need to write regular (HIGH QUALITY) articles in order to build up the number of keywords that I'll eventually rank for?

      I am thinking I write articles per my strategy in the first post (one per day for 3 weeks than 3 per week for a while) and then slowly drop it down as I start to have a lot of them. Eventually do maybe one per week on this specific site.

      does that make sense?

      And yes, I'm also submitting my articles to ezine (and will add in some other top directories) after they have been indexed per your suggestions in another thread.

        Some ... if you're determined to depend on Google traffic for your site. :p

        I admit I do a little keyword research, myself, each time I start a new niche, before writing any articles, and there's no shame in it.

        I think so ... I like to have 3 or 4 articles up before I let anyone see the site, myself. The thing is, Google (and other search engines) go through a bit of a learning-curve regarding updating your content. The more often you update, the more often they'll re-index the site (index new content). But it takes them a bit of time to "learn", and it may not happen all that quickly at the start. In the longer-run, if you update once a week or more, your new content should always be indexed (by Google, anyway) within a day at the outside.

        Good ... no harm in that, after they're indexed. Remember, though, that this is only "passive syndication" and not to be relied on alone. If you can find some ezines/sites in your niche to whom you can actively offer "content" (i.e. your articles, once indexed on your site), that's a much better prospect to attract targeted traffic (and funnily enough targeted backlinks, too - because article directory backlinks in themselves are no good).

        That's as good a plan as any, but dont just think of articles, as Alexa Smith mentioned it about "syndication of your content", so turn your articles into pdf, mp3, videos and syndicate them to websites that allow it. Good quality interesting content will always attract traffic, people will bookmark it and share it for quite a while; when you have attracted traffic you have opportunities for marketing and earning over and above Adsense.

    Please let's forget about all the formulas, magic numbers etc. Just post naturally and regularly. You want to post 100 original articles a day on a new website? Just go ahead. Do you have confirmation from Google that they don't like this? Please let us know.

    Pump in as much article as you can but make sure they are high quality articles and then schedule them to post at a day's interval or any schedule strategy that suit's you.

    Yes, you're right, Google likes blogs to post up to about 2 or 3 posts a day on average, but not much more than that. You can post less than that, but your traffic will be less too.

    Your plan sounds good. Don't forget that (assuming you're using WordPress) you can schedule articles for the future, so you could write them all on one day, and schedule them as you'e suggested.

    Your plan sounds pretty solid, however it really depends on how competitive your niche, how much time you have, and how much of this content is actually going to help you readers. Remember quality over quantity. Make your posts epic...don't just throw posts on the blog for the sake of it if you want to turn this site into an authority. If you just want to make some spare cash with AdSense, mediocre content is alright though. Best of luck!
