Google + Authorship - Good or Bad Idea?

If you type in 2createawebsite on google, you will see in the search results:

The website and a picture of Lisa Irby beneath her website (she is a successful affiliate marketer).

My question to my fellow warriors is do you think this is a good idea to sign up for the google + authorship so it displays just like hers for an authority site in a medical niche.

Side note: I am not a medical professional nor have I ever worked in the medical field. I do make sure I deliver high quality original content.

I'm debating whether I should do it or no :0

    It depends.

If you are going to build a bunch of niche sites and hit them with massive numbers of links to get them ranking, I would say no.

If you plan to build an authority website with lots of useful information then yes, definitely go for it.

Anyone had this problem with google authorship after checking with the rich snippets tool:

Warning: At least one field must be set for HatomEntry.
    Warning: Missing required field "entry-title".
    Warning: Missing required field "updated".
    Warning: Missing required hCard "author".

I use wordpress, I have no idea why this error keeps appearing. I've looked all over the internet and can't find a solution, dunno if it will prevent me getting authorship...

That is odd. Your theme might be doing some wonky stuff for the meta tags?

Those errors all have to do with your theme.
For the title tag, you need to wrap it in a "entry-title" class - span or div or even on the H1/H2.
For the author name, it needs to wrapped in a "author" class - span or div.
for the date, it needs to be wrapped in an "updated" class - span or div

And yes for author, having the error will prevent you from getting authorship. PM me your URL and I'll show you what you need add where if you're still not sure.

Of course it's a good idea, that's exactly what Google wants. They know perfectly well that images convert better than text, so to make their new social network more attractive to Webmasters (the people who ultimately have the most control over a given networks popularity) they're offering you this addition. Of course, eventually as more and more people join Google+ it will become more and more of a REQUIREMENT to join if you want to have any sort of chance in the SERPs ranking game.

Just my conspiracy theorist 2 cents.
