My Girlfriend just quit her job to IM full time

As we all know it is a big step for anyone to leave the security of fulltime work. And cudos to her for having the belief in herself to do such a thing. Since i left fulltime work over a year ago it has had many ups and downs. But 1 thing is for sure i would never go back to work as an employee for someone when i could be doing it for myself.

Are you 2 going to be helping each other? or is she all on her own?

Well I don't think its wise to quit a job unless you found another one that pays the bills automatically since Im can take a little bit of time and patience until money rolls in.You say she has learned a lot over 2 years so hopefully she can replace her salary.

If you don't mind me asking, is she making anywhere near online what she was making at her old job? I know it may seem tempting if it looks like she found a way to make good money online to quit,but I personally wouldn't quit a job unless I had good money already rolling in for at least a few months.

Wish her all the luck! I don't think 9-5er's know how much time is spent when you have your own business online. People think I sit and watch tv for half the day. I'm at my computer today already for about 15hrs. Love every minute of it.

Very Cool. Good for her - really. It sounds like her decision is measured and built on practical experience and considerations. This is definitely a good way to proceed.

Sometimes it's not advisable to 'wait until you're ready' because that may never come - depending on your perspective.

Hats off to her. Most people just don't have the courage to take the step, especially if they are making good money already. They can't seem to leave what they feel is job security. Good luck to her it will be worth it.

everyone can quit there job especially if they are not happy about it. And when also the payments is not good or does not equal to the efforts you have made. So I guess it was a time for a change.

Is she making money with internet marketing or just took the plunge because of you?

Thats a tough one...I'd love it if my girlfriend would do IM and we could travel together and work anywhere in the world.

But, I get texts, gchats, e-mails...you name it all day when she's at work so I can't imagine being that productive sharing a home office with each other (we live together).

That's great though, if she has knowledge and motivation I'm sure she'll do big things.

Well Thats a big step, I find very tempting the idea to become a full-time internet marketer, but hey we really need to have a stability online before we can take such a decision. Congratulations to your girlfriend buddy!

Well more power to her if she is very confident about what she is doing than you can disregard what I was saying earlier.I always think its wise to tell people to do Im part time(could mean 20-30 hours a week) before they become successful and quit their jobs,especially in an economy where jobs are scarce.In this case,however, she has you to guide her, and since it seems you are doing quite successful she has a great mentor. I guess she feels she can't go wrong as long as you help her. Now you've got that responsibility on your shoulders to make sure she succeeds if she starts failing Lol. Hope she does well,and I'm sure she will.

I would, however, think it is extremely irresponsible to agree with someone new to IM that they should just quit their jobs and just do IM full time becauese these people often don't have any direction starting out,.People need to start IM by just focusing on One thing first and taking action on that ONE thing,but its so easy for newcomers to go all over the place,try everything, and get nowhere fast.,My call to action in my sig is for those people who have spent some time researching Im and learned a lot,but don't do anything with the info they learned.

Lol, sounds a bit bittersweet to you Shoot! But yeah, that's good that your pursuits and doing IM as long as you have has enticed her to see how things go... just as long as you two are good to go financially, then let her get into it and see... you never know!

I'm hoping to be able to do a bit more with it in the next month or so... hoping to show my wife that I can succeed with it and strive forward to succeed and make it my 'career' instead of trying to deal with another 9-5 for $15 an hour. Sorta been tough with me being "Mr. Mom" while she's been working and I'm watching our soon to be 2yr old, but we're putting him in daycare part time for awhile since the cost isn't devastating.

A big decision to quit work I must say, but if she thinks she can do it then she must have seen a very good future in internet marketing.

Wait a minute, if everyone quit their day job and become and IMer, won't there be any employee for employer to employ left?

That means there is no waiter to serve you, cashier at the mall, teacher, etc.

And when that happens, the salary of all these offline jobs will increase double fold!!

It is a tough decision quitting a full time job to go into something as risky and uncertain as internet marketing. Having said that, if she has a Master's degree, the chances of her being able to secure another job are not that low in case this does not work out.

I guess she must have learned a lot watching you do what you do over the past few years, and that will benefit her greatly. Either way, your girlfriend sounds like a brave lady to quit a job she has been doing for such a long period of time. Good luck to her!

the good thing here is she has a Masters and work experince to fall back on should it fail or if she decides it's not for her. That alone will make things easier.

will you be working together? Are you sure you'll actually get much "work" done from now on in?

Maybe you should get seperate work areas and locks on doors etc? :-)

If she is passionate, ready to be persistent at it and has made some progress using the advice you gave here, then it's a good move.

Fail? So what, with a masters degree she can get a job anywhere. I think it is better to have a go, than to look back and think of what might have been.

You only live once, and life is short. I say go for it.

That's great news, leaving a job which doesn't satisfy you anymore can be an awesome feeling. As long as she stays consistent and puts the work in, I'm sure she'll do fine!

With a Masters under her belt, she wouldn't find it too hard to revert back to her previous line of work either!

however hopefully that need never happen, and IM is the way forward..!

Hope it works out for her. I personally feel that she should have one year's income in the bank and have had more success than a couple "little" projects under her belt before quitting her job, but that's me.

That's a very brave move! Just make sure you're supportive of her all the way as she's most likely not gonna have an easy transition (remember your first months/years).

I'm amazed that your girlfriend is taking it up full time and you two can share the same interest in work. I think it will be extremely beneficial financially for you to to team up and really storm up a force of nature in the IM world.

Good for her! I'm sure that she's thought this out carefully, saved appropriately, and is on her way. Nothing gained if nothing risked.

It is such a scary thing to do that and my husband (while not in IM) has already had to pick me up a few times and put my emotions back in place. I wish you both the best that the internet has to offer

Good for her that she was able to see you work and watch how the IM world revolves.

But it all still depends on her hardwork and determination. At least she has someone that she can lean on or will cheer her up in times of difficulties since you've been on that road.

I'm mentoring my housemate who lost his job 6 weeks ago. We're WELL on the way to matching his salary after 12 weeks in the game which was the initial target. Personally, if he keeps his head down I reckon he can easily reach double this target.

I wish her all the luck in the universe. Actually, there is one thing that we miss. That is interaction with other people face 2 face, not on skype I mean. That said, it is a lot more interesting now. For most of us it was rough the first year. Hope she has some money save up. Also, I hope you will help her transition to the super exciting world of im.
