Why do other sites hate my site so much?

So I started a new site last year and it has not been getting the response I was hoping for. (url in my sig)

Since January my hits increased nicely every day for the site but then the past week they have dropped by a 3rd for no reason and some of my pages have lost position almost totally. Additionally my old website which I no longer bother with took the same traffic hit of a 3rd also like somehow their traffic is interlinked :confused:, all I have is a backlink from the old site to my new one.

I am not sure why this has happened as all I have been doing is adding content to the new site and hoping for the backlinks to take care of them self via people enjoying my website. I just make posts as a hobby and any clicks through affiliates are just a nice bonus for now. I just want to get some traffic currently and may try to make some decent money from it later on.

Also my bounce rate has slightly increased... from 65% to 73%

I would also like more people to like my sites page on Facebook but I don't get many people liking it at all. I made 1 post on redit which got a great response and lots of thumbs up and comments, then when I submitted another a few days later my posts stopped showing, seemingly my site got blacklisted from redit? I don't understand why redit would hate it enough to block it. The same applied to stumble, I submit something and it gets 0 views.

What is wrong with the site? I don't understand why it keeps getting a bad response. I haven't spammed with it or done anything wrong. I keep advertisement to a minimum and have tried to make the site user friendly and enjoyable. The sites only hovering around 100 hits a day but my goal is to one day reach 1000. Is this achievable through just regular content updates?

I would love to get some feedback on the site from some experienced warriors

Also if you find the site humorous you can like it on facebook and enjoy the occasional funny picture in your feed. Thanks.

That's a tough question to answer without performing a website analysis. Would take a few hours to perform.

But based on your post and a quick look at your website here are a few tips:
(By the way, funny website!)

♦Don't post your own content to sites like Reditt, StumbleUpon, Digg, and other social bookmarking websites. Posting once in a while is OK, but as soon as you start posting links from the same URL over and over they'll consider it spam.

♦♦♦Best way to use these sites is for your visitors to bookmark them organically. Build a following on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Google+ and occasionally ask them to 'stumble' your new post, etc. When you build a following on social media people start bookmarking and sharing your content organically.

♦♦♦If you need to speed up the process you can have people from Fiverr blast your link to social bookmarking sites, get a ton of Digg votes, etc. I haven't tried these myself and I'd be careful, your URL could potentially get banned from their websites if they see you're trying to game the system.

♦Personally I'd focus on social media at this point, get more Facebook fans and start a Twitter profile. Start out by following similar people on Twitter to build a following quickly (search this forum to learn more), then point them to each new post you make and also to your Facebook page.

♦♦♦Have a bigger & better Facebook widget in your sidebar and also link to a Twitter profile and Google+ if you decide to join that too.

♦Make an update to your old website. Google loves fresh content. And since you have a backlink from that website it absolutely will affect your SERP's.

♦Why should they like it? Looking at your FB page I see no incentive at all. You should at least make a landing page that says something like "Like our page for daily laughs!". Point out ANY benefit and ask for the 'like' and you'll get more fans.

♦Good strategy as long as people 1) See your website and 2) Enjoy your content. You have a good start on #2 so focus on getting people to see your site. Like I said I recommend social media all the way. Work Twitter and Facebook right and the rest will take off from there.

♦Don't mess it up by doing any 'bluefart' methods. I would possibly consider some Fiverr promotions (advertise your site to my 1 trillion followers, get a zillion Digg votes for your page, etc.) but don't push it any further than that. And definitely don't try doing those things yourself if you don't know what your doing.

I have never used fiverr before, at first glance it seems like a bunch of people offering strange services for a fiver lol. Is using this site a bit dodgey when it comes to SEO etc? I want to avoid the dark side of SEO as I don't want to cause myself any problems.

The site loads fine for me however my service provider is under DDOS attacks at the moment, maybe that is the cause of the slow loading. It even loads fine on my phones 3g internet. AFAIK the loading times are fine? I hope

. I was also thinking of pushing out some Youtube marketing too but was unsure about the benefits. I will give this a try also as your comment has confirmed my thoughts on this subject.

You should add more content!! There are pages like Gagful on FB on similar niche of yours and see what tactics they use to get more likes..

Get a few Fiverrs to boost your backlinks!!

Most of my backlinks were already in place as I bought is as an expired domain and spent a bit of time looking for one which already had some backlinks. The PR of my previous page dropped to PR 1 after I linked to my new site and the PR of my new site went from 1 to 2. It is indeed puzzling but I am not complaining

I use analytics and do research on it daily. I think I figured out why my pages losing ranking in the SERPS. I think it is because of the blog style of the site. The newer posts gain the most PR due to them being on the front page. As they get pushed back they lose more and more PR. However what confuses me is that page 4 is PR 1 and page 2 and 3 are PR 0 hmm. It seems the more posts I make the less authority my older posts have in the SERPS which is a shame as a few of them were doing great for uncommon keywords.

UPDATE: Had a look on fiverr OMG seems ace and I especialy like that you can see project feedback. Is it safe to use these freelancers if I am careful? E.g If I don't do something stupid like pay for 1000 backlinks in 1 day.

This may be some of the problem right off. Frequently when you buy an expired domain, once you upload new content to it, you lose backlinks and PR. You have a good idea. Just keep working with it. Visitors and rankings will always dance some. Usually they come back even stronger if you do good SEO.

If you are looking for traffic from the search engines, you need a lot more content (text).

Not sure if it was me, but your site also took a while to load up.

And yes I agree with the previous poster make it obvious (really obvious) what you want people to do and spell out the benefit they get by doing it.

Your site is hilarious. Keep testing, tracking and tweaking. There is no way to know the exact method that will get you traffic that keeps coming back. It seems like building up a You Tube following would be the best way to monetize.

Knowing what works will help you identify where to concentrate your efforts. You'll become more efficient by working on a few sources rather than hoping the visitors will promote the site for you.

Try to create more value for your visitors and focus on your SEO as you go along and note that strategic hard work and perseverance is the key.

Visitors should WANT to be on your site and stay there. By providing more content, the visitors want to stay longer and are rewarded for that by the great amount of content.

  Overall, I found the site entertaining. One thing did annoy me, though. The Facebook widget that 'followed' me down the page did so in such a way as to push most of the bottom part below the fold. And each attempt to scroll down pushed the widget down as well.
  
  I think that widget along with the row of buttons at the bottom of each post might be overkill. I would simply tweak the template to add a line of text above the buttons saying something like "Did you like this? Click one of the buttons and brighten someone else's day, too."

  Your site is hilarious! I have "liked" it and intend sharing it as well... a laugh a day keeps the doctor away. I won't repeat all the advice you have been given already, but the answers you want are in there. By the way, I was also put off by the traveling FB widget...but the row of buttons at the bottom didn't bother me at all. Good luck!

Your site is nicely done, I like it. And I agree with Joseph that the widget is distracting. You may want to add some content or ads on the sidebar instead. As for FB liking and sharing of stuff, I guess it boils down to numbers and the audience (some ppl just dont like sharing)
