I have been reading the comments in the thread about Vanessa Reece passing away. There were a lot of people who commented that they never knew her which is not unusual considering that the Warrior Forum has almost half a million members!I WOULD like to make a point though...

I have been actively involved in online marketing since early 2001. During that time I have made it a point to get to know other marketers; especially Warrior Forum members. I have never met a single one of these people in person but I have made some incredible friendships over the last 10 years. We talk on Skype, we talk on cell phones, we email, we keep in touch any way we can. They are friends in every sense of the word!

I want to tell you that if you are involved in online marketing of any type, you need to make a special effort to reach out to others and make friends. You will find that networking with other marketers will be one of the most important things you could have ever done to take your business to another level but it's not just about business!

Relationships in marketing are critical! Relationships with other marketers, relationships with your customers, ANY relationships! I have gone out of my way to develop relationships with affiliate managers of products I am promoting, vendors I have dealt with, large companies, etc. Each one of these relationships have benefited me greatly, both professionally and personally.

You know, we look at some people here in the WF and the internet marketing world as powerful and unapproachable. We are afraid to approach them because they are well known and they wouldn't want to have anything to do with us peons. Come on, get real!

I have gotten to know people like Kevin Riley, Eric Louviere, John Rogers, Allen Says, Paul Myers, etc. and guess what I found out... they are people just like you and me! They don't bite. They can't fly unless they are in an airplane. They aren't faster than a speeding bullet. If you were to ask your friends and neighbors if they knew them, they wouldn't have any idea who they were unless they were internet marketers too. They are just great, fantastic, considerate Warriors just like you and me and everyone else in the Warrior Forum! Don't be afraid to approach other people!

There are a lot of great people in this forum who would love to be friends with you, work with you, develop relationships with you! Work to start special relationships with other Warriors and get to know as many people as you can. A great way to do that is to start mastermind groups with other people.

I have started many mastermind groups over the years. You don't have to set times to meet. You don't have to create schedules. You can if you want to but you don't have too.

I use Skype and add people to the group when they want to join. When I have something to say, I go in and say it and people can read what I said and respond to it any time they want. You can close Skype, you can shut down your computer, you can do anything EXCEPT click on the "Leave Conversation" option in Skype and everything that has been said will be there for all members to see.

There are 436,914 members in the WF at this writing!!! Do you understand what an amazing asset that is for those who take advantage of it? I know that not all of those members are active in the forum but think about how many of those people will read what you say in the forum. Think about how many of those people would love to develop a relationship with you.

If you want to be extremely successful in your online endeavor, you need to take advantage of every opportunity that comes to you. You need to be aware of what is going on around you. You need to be a go-getter, take initiative and grab the bull by the horns. Don't wait for other people to take the first step! YOU take the first step!

Oh by the way, when you start doing that, you will get the opportunity to know fantastic people like Vanessa Reece and you will be the better for it!

    Thanks Chris,

It was only 2 minutes ago I saw your post about Vanessa. I'm shocked. We just never know when it's our time to move on to the next level. Life is too short to live in solitude.

Hi Chris! My name is Bob Withers and I'm relatively new to the Forum although I've been a member for over a year now however I haven't really participated the way I know I should have. I've been making an effort to change this because I know what you just said so eloquently is true . I've been involved in Internet marketing for about 5 years and I've learned a lot from other people, not unlike yourself, and moving forward I want to establish more relationships with other people on the WF and online in general so I can try to help people when I can and maybe in the future I will be lucky enough to have known someone like your friend Vanessa while I had the opportunity. Your comments came through loud and clear and I thank you for it.

You're so right. This business can get very lonely. Sometimes I wished my friends did online marketing so we could have more to talk about. Keep posting such great insight.

    Very valid thread, Chris.

sadly for most, it's about the approach... it's how they approach.

Exactly Sal! The first thing some people say to others is to ask them to promote something for them. They don't understand that it's not about themselves but about relationships!

You have a lot of friends in online marketing... you just haven't met them yet!

I have always been outgoing and a social butterfly (or in my case a social armadillo) but I know some people are introverted and shy and they have trouble getting to know people. If you are that way, you have two choices... stay that way and struggle with relationships OR... change! There is no time like right now to start making those changes. How? Be like Nike and "just do it!"

Exactly Chris! I've often wondered why some just don't comprehend that behind every name, behind every avatar, there is a real human being with real human attributes and most importantly, real value!

I saw in another thread someone say that the key to success is to view everyone you meet as a stepping stone to get you to the next level.

What a sad, sad, way to live.

It is rather ironic how one of the biggests keys to success Internet marketing is traffic and networking, yet on a personal level so many of us forget to employ those tactics on a personal level.

I too have made some great friends through my experiences and research, but all too often you get so caught up in your own endeavors that you fail to truly connect with the thousands of people you might interact with in a day.

I think a lot of people that get into IM don't realize that networking is crucial to making good money. At least for me it was.

Before I even knew anything about IM, I was selling 2k software programs just from reaching out to people in other areas of my country. All done by using email and telephone.

Chris is a networker alright. I have never seen anyone open and close skype groups with as much enthusiasm as Chris. I am waiting for Chris to come out with Skyping Your Way To Millions, One Skype Group at a Time.

Chris opened a Skype group to master mind how best to open a Skype group.

    Hi, Chris...
Great post... thank you. Were you pointing at me when you wrote that?
Unfortunately, I didn't get to know Vanessa... and it sounds like that's my loss.
I appreciate your insight, and I for one plan to work on getting to know my fellow marketers better.
My thoughts and prayers to Vanessa's friends and family.

This is great advice not only for the WF but for life. So often we get caught up in our own little worlds and forget that you can't grasp anything until you open your hand.

    Thank you for reminding me.

Shhhh... I'm not quite done with it yet!

Oh btw, when I mentioned some of the top marketers I knew, I forgot to mention Thomas Belknap! He is just another one of the great people who put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us... well, actually... Thom rarely wears pants and that is probably why he has trouble making friends BUT he is a nice guy!

I read that post and it was very sad. I'm sorry that I did not get to know Vanessa. I'm sure it is my loss. I wish I would have known her.

You are so right about getting to know people.

I have made some friends here. We email, PM, share our experiences and provide support.

Reading a post like that sure makes you think about life, doesn't it? How short it is. What a wonderful gift we have - to be alive, to be grateful for everything we have.

I recently took a trip and before I left, I wrote instructions for my husband. He's not sure what I do so I sat down and wrote a list of accounts, numbers, online accounts, passwords, etc. It was an odd feeling. I've never written a letter like that before, but you never know when your number is up. I asked the husband to please live his life to the fullest and that I would see him again. It was a bit depressing when I was writing the letter, but it reminded me to cherish every moment.

There are good, selfless people here and I'm glad to be a part of the Warrior family.
