What is it we are actually doing??

hello every one, Phil here.

After hearing a long lecture from a family member that i was wasting my time and money on trying to build a business selling people on my thoughts and ideas, constantly asking me what it was i thought i was doing...

I had an epiphany.

Now this isn't something that i didn't already know, however i wasn't as sure about it as i am now..... its as if hearing this from them set my thoughts into stone and now they will not be budged!

What is it exactly that we are making a profit from?!

In my own mind the answer now is plain as day! We are selling people the tools they need in order to be successful online, we arent selling them our knowledge on how to do this..

Our knowledge is something we should be giving away for free.

Now im not talking about just some of our skills and strategy's.... im talking about all of them, the entire thing!

Because by doing this we are setting ourselves in the position of a guru in the minds of our prospects.
Its what is going to attract these people to our sites, our blogs, our forums posts, then into our sales funnel and keep them coming back for more!

Practically begging us for the value and knowledge we have to offer.

Then and only then can we start to make money.. because now that we have taught them the skills and mindset that it takes to achieve success there is only one variable stoping them from achieving this goal...

And that variable is the tools!

selling them the tools to be able to run a successful business online is were we will be making our money on the back end.

Now of course there is also getting people into our personal business's, but for the most part in the grand scheme of things we will be making our money on providing people with the necessary tools to run there business.

its like a comment i once heard a successful entrepreneur Jonathan Budd say...

it was that back 1848 when the Californian gold rush started...

who do you think was making the most profits:

A. The thousands upon thousands of people looking for the gold.

or

B. The people who were out there selling each and everyone of these people the tools that were necessary to find the gold.

Because if you think about it.. every time someone bought a tool money was made by the person selling them the tools.. were as not every person who bought the tools and looked for the gold were so lucky!

and i feel that is exactly what we are doing here.. The internet is the gold rush for the entire world!!!! practically everyone everywhere has the potential to go online and start a business, or just brows around and buy the products the want....

In my mind the chances for success are astronomically high, the potential for failing is only there when i give up and listen to the more narrow minded people like my family member mentioned earlier...

So with that long story finally wrapped up i would just like to remind all of you that success will happen if you make it happen and the only way you will fail at achieving your goals is if you give up!

Flat out that is it....

Good luck to each and everyone of you this year,

The theory is great - thousands and thousands looking for gold, a few entrepreneurs selling shovels.

The difference in internet marketing is that you have the thousands and thousands looking for gold also telling the other thousands and thousands looking for gold the right size, shape, weight and handle length of shovel to get the best results.

    It did sound good, though.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

    Hmm.

Internet entrepreneurs need shovels for to look for their own batch of gold.

I think I'll make shovels or panning tools.

Or give them their own plot of land for a price.

    Or do all three! MUAHAHAH!

I enjoyed the OP's view on this.

In the gold rush the people who made the most money were the ones selling the shovels and picks and supplies.
So much so that it was storekeepers who built half the rail road across the country.
Personaly whilst we are an Internet Sales Company selling physical products on line we also sell advertising space.
I just tell people I am in Sales and Marketing

What we're actually doing is solving other people's problems.

The more problems we solve the more money we earn.

It's amazing how so many people try to complicate and expand upon what it is that we do.... I sometimes think it's an attempt to make it more glamorous...

      When, really.

These two lines above say it ALL..

Regardless of the business model, product, method..

This quote above is the perfect description.

      Peace
