Pinging With Macs - Online or Software?

Hi all,

When you have updated content on more than one page what do you do regarding pinging?

Do you use an online pinging site or software?

I am using mac and am aware that you can ping one url at a time using the network utility tool but what about multiple url's?

    Hi Reaper,
    It is all depends how your site built. if your site in wordpress or any other CMS. pinging managed itself but if you have your website in core html then you have to use any tool whether it is online tool or offline

      What online tools do you use Paul?
      My site content isn't Wordpress its on html.
      Pingler? Pingomatic?

        I use Pingler, it's cheap and will ping according to your set schedule, every 3 days is default. My Alexa ranking keep going down on several sites and that is all I am doing with them.

          That's interesting. Are you just pinging automatically every 3 days and noticing the rank going down or are you constantly updating the content on your sites with the automatic ping every 3 days?

            Yes I ping the default every 3 days, I do update my sites daily using an automatic posting plugin. Nothing else being done and sites are getting better in Alexa and in Google.

              Does that not duplicate content by auto posting? Isn't that what Google doesn't like?

                No it doesn't. Duplicate content is a huge misconception in internet marketing. As an example you can go to Ezine articles and select an article and put it on your website, is that not duplicate content. Go to any niche and most are promoting the same things, is that not duplicate content. It is impossible not to have duplicate content. You post an article on your site and someone puts it on theirs and gives you the signature, you would want that correct? Is that not duplicate content.

                What they (Google) is talking about are the website sellers that sell the same site over and over, so 100 people have the same exact site, that is what google doesn't want. Change the content around, rewrite it with your own take on the subject, but don't get completely hung up on duplicate content.

                I'm sure some guru will come along and discount me, but look around and you will see what I mean.

                I use Content Revenge to auto post which takes content from the internet on a keyword and creates a page for it, and Google hasn't dinged any of my sites.
