Where do WSOs go when they die?

Heh

So I wonder what all people are doing with their WSOs once they have had their 15min of fame... Do you try to use them in any other ways? If so, what ways?

Just curious.

I have an idea for how to use them, want to see if this comes up in your comments.

Please reply with your best success reusing WSOs that have run their course.

    Here's a couple of strategies...

    1) You can add them as a free "unannounced" bonus to another one of your products, perhaps a new WSO you are about to launch. This immediately adds a lot of value to your new product, leading to more satisfied customers and less refunds.

    2) You can joint venture with others by offering your "dead" WSO as a bonus to their upcoming WSO. This works especially if they are related (for example your WSO was about email marketing, and their WSO is on list building). You can require the ones who want your bonus to opt-into your list to access your WSO bonus, and this automatically adds proven buyers to your list.

I'm sure there are a lot more ways to use an old WSO... but let's see what other ideas come out of this thread

Some of them continue to be promoted outside of the Warrior Forum by affiliates directing traffic to the main Sales Page rather than the WSO page.

Additionally, once the WSO is over, some of them get listed on ClickBank so the creator can get CB affiliates to promote too.

I'm sure many WSOs "die" once the 15 minutes of fame is done, but many also continue on and sales thrive in other market places.

I reckon a good WSO should never die. Or, if it does, it's mostly useless to anyone anyhow. But let's say one does, and it's still relevant.

But some things that can be done:

Offer Resale Rights - This can be a decent way to grab some additional revenue from it. Hell, you could even get affliates for THIS using WSOPro or JVZoo or what not.

Listbuilder - Already mentioned, so no need for me to expand.

Kindle/E - Readers - If still has some relevance and isn't a video or audio, turn it into a Kindle product and sell it cheaply.

POD Book - Same as the above, really. Something like Createspace would be the way to go.

Website/Blog/Article/Email Content - Bust it into small pieces, put it up where people can see it.

Document Sharing Sites - Put it up at the document sharing sites, with a link to your new products, or your squeeze page, or both.

Video - Turn it into a video, distribute it whereever. As above put a link to your new products, or your squeeze page, or both in it and on the page where it's host.

Audio - Like the above, except someone will read it outloud. Distribute to podcasts, links as above.

Depending on the product, there's no particular reason you couldn't do ALL of these.

Most of my WSOs are simply moved to my own sites (at a higher price) once the WSOs are closed.

Many of my products are never offered as WSOs.

One WSO was moved to my sites, then was retired (no longer for sale). Why? Well, it's a method I've adapted and tinkered with for the last year, and it makes me a sizeable income. I want to make sure I don't create too much competition.

        So....it depends.

Yea good advice. Or a lot of guys still keep them in their sig and they live on forever.
Just because they aren't getting bumped in the WSO section doesn't mean they aren't getting traffic and sales.

If a product can't be promoted on its own merits outside the WSO forum, it isn't worth buying. And, IMNSHO, it shouldn't be here in the first place.

      What he ^^^ said!!!

There was a time, when WSO's were special (discounted) offers for Warrior Forum members. It was just another advertising channel, where a product creator could get some very targeted visitors, and use to launch a new product, or boost sales on an older product by making a special offer in the WSO.

Lately, it seems that a number of product creators look at the WSO as their only market, and simply don't put forth the effort to market their product, beyond those who might see it here in the Warrior Forum.

Personally, I think those "merchants" miss out on a HUGE market that doesn't frequent the WF, or who only visit occasionally. Instead, they crank out another product tomorrow, and post a new WSO.

I have to question the value of any product, whose creator values it so little as to limit their marketing efforts and advertising channels in this way.

        Hey Sid,

I couldn't agree with you more and the thing is, I don't think many of these product creators know how to market a product anywhere else. They have no incentive to learn.

Truth be told, if one crafts the offer/copy they don't see any need to market anywhere else. Why? Because its just easy and lazy to only market in the WSO section.

So where do WSO's go? They either go to WSO heaven or WSO hell.

Eh? I thought the POINT of WSOs was that they are "special offers" as compared to what you sell the product for elsewhere? :-)

I believe every WSO should be kept alive 'at the owners permission of course' and stored in a warrior achieve for future marketers to research, purchase and use.

Thanks for all the replies. Most people hit on the point I was thinking of, that useful information packaged as a WSO can be used in many other ways, to do list building etc.

Next question: would it be useful to people to have a place where these buyer bonus arrangements could be made easily?

      Fine expression. LOL But true.

Smart marketers have heard about the leverage and apply that.

They actualize their content, omit the outdated part, refresh the content with new data, show a new related method, write new chapters, and so on. Which is evergreen in your content, it not need to throw away.

And if you don't do so, you leave a lot of money on the table.

Even though I get plenty of sales from the main salespage for the first product I offered as a WSO around a year ago, I still get sales occasionally from the WSO thread.

If the product is evergreen, there is no need to close the WSO thread...just make sure its a slightly better deal than on the salespage (lower price, extra bonuses)

I've never done anything to actively try and sell any more copies of my old WSOs however I disagree with the 15 minutes of fame.

I actually got a sale today for a WSO I last bumped a couple of months ago! Wasn't even from any affiliate... In fact, I get quite a few sales every month from old WSOs which is a nice surprise!

If they were good WSOs to begin with, then they get repackaged into higher value products so they can be sold at higher prices. So they don't die, they get a make-over.

Those WSOs that did not do so well can always be used as bonuses for other products.

This. Most WSOs, if they are high value, can be sold for a LONG time. When, if ever, they run their course they can easily be added as a bonus to other products.

A smart marketer will release a WSO, get feedback and reviews, make improvements to the product, and then launch it to a larger market.

Sadly a lot of products nowadays are created specifically for selling in the WSO section and nothing more. A lot of missed opportunities.

A WSO should not be a 'type' of product just a marketplace for you to sell certain products.

Unfortunately a lot do not understand the distinction.

I posted it in the war room as a freebie. But mainly because the WSO was "of the time" and the technique was less effective so I didn't want to carry on selling it.
