Google Search Network?

Ok I am a pretty big user of the Google Keyword tool, and there is something I just can't get my head around and that is the Google Search Network.

For example the keyword "buy property in brisbane" gets 12 global monthly searches <10 local monthly searches and 14800! Google Search Network searches what are these?

And how can I correctly use this tool to my advantage?

    When I use the google keyword tool I only get search results for local and global. I believe the google search network are search engines that are affiliated with Google. This is from google.
