If I'd spent less time posting on WF...

...I could have condensed those 1000+ posts into a half-decent e-book and be making more money by now!

Ha, you can say that again! I think that JUST ABOUT makes it worthwhile

But I suppose what I am getting at is that prolific posters (and there are those far more prolific than me) have probably posted an absolute ton of good info in their time (I would be more modest about my own output ), and although I am not saying the time spent on the forum is wasted by a LONG WAY, we often complain we don't have time for product creation, and yet we are creating all the time. Only we are doing it for Allen Says and other Warriors - maybe we are missing a trick there!

Ha, not really regret, just wondering if I could be spending my time more profitably. Though on balance I know I have GOT more from WF than I have given, still, that's a huge amount of content created. It could be "repurposed" at the very least

Actually, there are some people here could just compile their posts straight into PDF form and sell it at a handsome price!

You learn a lot here and it can be addicting. If you really feel you are spending too much time here put your self on a schedule along with everything else on your to do list. When you list is checked off you can always come back to the forum.

You're looking at it subjectively! Those 1000+ posts would have required different trains of thought, the ability to formulate opinions and actually just give your thoughts.

However an ebook would have been set with one central idea, narrowing down your opinions to only certain subjects. If you look at it from your brains point of view, you exercised it and used it a lot more posting than you would have making an ebook.

Get to it then! Have a look at all your posts and decide if your posts have anything you can put into an ebook (or add to and put into an ebook). It's a good idea.

That is how I wrote my first eBook. Literally I went back and got all my posts on a certain subject I had done well in, spilling the beans for all to read on the WF.

I used some of the posts verbatim, improved on others, condensed/expanded until it was finished. Made some nice moolah with those posts.

Had I not been posting I wouldn't have had my "notes" from which to work. Also I learned a lot more than I taught here on the WF during those days and posting helped me hone my writing skills.

I've made a lot of posts on a lot of different forums. I think I'm at about 10,000 at the moment in the past few years. Not as much as some but the time spent on here is worth it in knowledge gained back!

You get out of it what you put in to it. Or, it's just a waste of time.

Time invested into the asset of your education. Or, time spent we can never get back.

Posting is a great activity where everyone wins.

The poster has a chance to crystallise their thinking and reinforce their learning.

The readers get to share the insights.

The only loser might be the casual reader who spends the time but does not evaluate the information or contibute.

I joined the forum based on a suggestion from another marketer I came across. He didn't really specify in his material why, but he as suggesting using the WF to flip sites instead of Flippa. I thought I'd try it but never ended up flipping any sites. They're making money without babysitting them so I figured I'd hang onto them.

Months later, I noticed how many new product ideas can come from these threads. I began digging and found the WF to be rich with good advice and a constant source of help. Being in IM for a few years now, I figured I'd throw my help where it might be able to be used as well.

In other words, I find that the WF can be good for MULTIPLE uses and I'm glad I joined. I'm not an expert by any means, but I take what I already know and add to that from things I find here. I think gathering your 1,000 + posts and combining them into a product is a great idea! You never know until you try.

The thing is you did not post them all at once, you posted them as you learned, some strategies change etc. and you did it more to be involved with the community and share your thoughts and learn things. If you wanted to make an ebook it may have been too much work at once and you could have lost motivation to see it to fruition. I think sometimes we idealize our "if only"s. don't sweat it, you're probably better for it.

Time spent on the WF is always worth, just try and set a time limit and create a regularly scheduled time (other than time when you are trying to avoid your projects) to visit.

@precious007. I disagree. The point of this forum is to help and to learn. The OP is expressing regret over his posts and asking our thoughts. Then I'd have to say stop regretting. Really. Look over your posts, maybe there is a common theme amongst them. Sometimes when people are feeling this way they really need to look back at what they've done (and in this case said) to get a better perspective on what their capabilities are.

If the OP was truly meaning this to be a "joke" then he's posted in the wrong section. I don't think anyone asking for our "thoughts" is a joke. Maybe you have the wrong forum.

This forum can help anyone even those who help others.

    Well do it!

I don't have near the posts you do but I file all my significant teaching or decent point posts for future purposes. I have been doing this for years with every thing I do. You have enough material to feed an auto responder or blog for years and still make 3-4 training WSO's and 2-3 ebooks left over.

Its like when you make a video. Always transcribe the audio and use it for additional content on the site or another site or blog. Man we got to hug a tree and get all the bang out of our bucks!

Ha, not joking, not really a regret either, just musing on the fact that in total many of WRITE an awful lot on the forum, and there is probably a lot of good stuff in there that could be used in a product.

I think there is only a problem where we grumble we don't have time for product creation yet write gargantuan amounts of content on the forum..!

Markowe, no doubt, often this is so. But you can change this. It's just a matter of your decision. And don't stop halfway.

Why should your forum posts be restricted to an ebook?

Leverage your useful posts. Use your content in multiple ways. This way you get the possible highest return from your efforts. For example, you can

      - make a Kindle variation of your ebook - small money, but in big quantity

      - make a report from your several posts that belong together on a certain topic

      - make a 4 - 6 page white paper - buyers prefer that length

      - use your posts in your list building emails

      - use your posts in your newletter

      - use your forum content in blog marketing - blog post series

      - make PowerPoint presentation - that can be uploaded on Slideshare

      - make audio podcasts - some prefer to listen instead of reading

      - make video form your posts - today’s busy buyers prefer short videos

      Many successes,

    Balance is important... but...

If I'd spent less time posting on WF:

I wouldn't have met as many great people that I work with everyday.
I wouldn't have started my Mastermind group full of amazing people that inspire me to work harder everyday.
I wouldn't have learned nearly as much about IM.
I would never have met that first client that paid me just enough to get started in IM.
I wouldn't have a great resource like Warriors for Hire to find designers or writers.
I wouldn't have gotten most of the sales I have received on my PLR site.
I wouldn't be up on the newest IM trends.
I would spend all my time working which would just burn me out.
I wouldn't be able to help nearly as many people, and I love to help people.

    The list goes on.

Sure, if I spent less time posting on WF I would have more time for work, but would it be worth it? It is all about balance.
