Yea there are many countless ways to earn money on the internet. None of them you list there are necessary, the only one that is, is Action

I wouldn't personally build a business around SEO.

With Google changing it's algorithims all the time and all that. I hate google but unfortunatly it's the mac daddy around here.

But hell, to each his own. What people want to do is none of my business.

Taking action.... there was an awesome post earlier about how Taking Action is the most overused BS thing people can tell you... Taking action can have tragic results. Before one takes action, research, consulting with people you trust who are qualified to give advice on your intended action is ALWAYS first if you want to succeed online.

As for the OP:
If you want to make a bunch of money online, here is my say:

Network - Not required, but helpful

Listbuild - In the traditional sense is not required and may even even hurt you, instead of listbuilding you should focus on growing your social media presence, but again not required.

Linkbuild - almost always required to make a bunch of money, may not be required to make a little bit or even a decent amount of money.

Grab Attention - Required

Provide Quality Content - Required

Build Rapport With Your Audience - I think this goes along with quality content, but yes required.

SEO Properly - May not be required, though usually required if you want to make a bunch of money.

Plan - Required if you want to make a bunch of money, may not be as important if you just want to make a little bit.

I'd add 2 more.

Learn. Constant learning is required even if you want to make just a little bit of money.

Find Quality Outsourcees (probably not a word) - if you want to make a bunch of money, eventually you will run out of available time to invest, so finding quality content writers, that type of thing is required if you want to make serious money online, not needed if you are thinking small time.

As a newbie here, can I give some advice?

Your thread would be much more helpful if it stated in the title what it was about. This forum is full of GREAT information, but it can be overwhelming for someone new to process it all.

The points you make are valid and helpful. It would be a shame if someone missed the conversation due to not knowing what thread was about.

On the other hand, (sorry but ) the thread title screams "I'm trying to be edgy and controversial, please open my thread and pay attention to me".

By the title, I was totally ready to disagree with the poster. ;-)

Everything that is posted is true but what that all comes down to is "work".

You forgot that to succeed in business you must provide insane value and OVER-DELIVER!

Not enough IMers are over-delivering on a regular basis, i truly believe those who are making 6-7 figures are the ones providing massive value and giving their customers more than they expect.

I personally don't focus too much on SEO because it's constantly changing and it's like chasing something you will never really nail down for good... and without focusing too much on SEO aside from the basics, I've still managed to do well.

I think it would be far more effective to approach IM as an objective list...Take your items and complete each objective cross it off and move on to the next..This prevents overload and Affiliate burn out.. One other point your objectives will always be dependent on your Product..Keep that in mind for streamlining sake!

Yes you are missing the 3 Key concepts you must have to succeed online. They are the 3 Immutable Laws that Govern your success. Without them you are hanging yourself with an invisible rope.

like any business you have to invest money and time not just the one or the other!

The biggest thing is to keep at it and realize it takes work. Article writing works, I'm on the first page for 10+ keywords from article links alone without ever being told about on page SEO while I was over at The Keyword Academy. Now that I know there is so much more I'm bound to skyrocket.

That doesn't mean to use every black hat trick in the book, though. People have success with blasting worthless links directly to their money site and others get canned by Google for it. Patience is the key, and I'll say it just like so many other members here have.

Pay someone if you have to, but for the love of god have something decent to provide to the internet! Even if you are just trying to make money (myself included) give them a reason to even read the article whether they click on an ad or not! I have a passion site that barely ranks for many of the keywords, but when I get tired of writing about the difference between green tea and black tea for the eighth day in a row I can crank out plenty of heartfelt posts for it.

What's working for me? Niche sites that are quick, easy, and making me money. The use of those however is purely to buy me time until my authority sites are where I want them to be and then if my niche sites get shown the door, so be it.

The point of my adderall fueled post is this: just do it, and do it right. Google will never sandbox you for providing something to the public. They will never ban your money site for being well written with a diverse link profile. They WILL give you the boot for writing a broken english post on "electric car charging cables for sale" with 33,000 links from forum profiles.

Passion, Yep that's it to have the passion to build your system by yourself, that way you will understand how it works so down the line you will understand what the person you decide to outsource to is doing.

This of course takes time,dicipline and persistance. Once you have grasped this then you can share it with others, help them,nurture them, make friends with them, don't push the big sell and in time the money will flow.

If it's a quick buck you're after then maybe your in the wrong business.

Thanks for starting this thread, there's a lot of good insight here.

Internet Marketing does work. In my personal opinion what I think is going on with you is information overload.

Try to stick with one area of Internet Marketing first master it and then move on. If you're going to be a master at email marketing do that, If you're going to master Amazon or eBay do that, if SEO or Pay per click marketing is your thing master that. Don't do too many things all at once you'll burn out!

Find the part of Internet Marketing you like the most and focus on making money from that one area. Screw all the so called guru's that tell you to do too many things at once. Most of the guru's selling that garbage to people don't do any of that.

Don't forget that the key ingredient with Internet marketing is the "marketing" The internet is ocean the marketing is land! Master one thing and I guarantee you that you're fortunes will change.

Evolve with the market - probably the most crucial action for ANY business to take.
