Hi,

I have a problem and I am not sure if this is the right place or forum to even post it on. But im sure all marketers have used a VPS at least once.

I got given WHM details but I have no idea how to setup DNS or change the default whm page to put a website on.

ALL I want to do is have a webpage up with a SQL database I only bought a VPs becuase I could not find hosting with PHP_Ming on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you go to your cpanel for the domain your vps is using you can setup databases and ftp accounts there.

You won't set up the web site in WHM (or at least I never did)

You will set the DNS Servers at the registrar to what your hosting provider gave you.

What you do in WHM is setting up accounts, managing accounts (suspend, terminate, set limits, etc).

Once an account is creates in WHM for the domain, you would log into CPANEL not WHM using the username and password you created for the account in WHM.

Once logged into CPANEL, you have options for file uploads, file editing, creating directories, databases, email addresses, etc.

I haven't looked at the tutorials mentioned by Hassan001, but they'll probably give you a lot clearer understanding.

But the reason you aren't finding what you need, is basically because you're working with the wrong tool. WHM manages your web hosting, CPanel controls your domain/website.

He's right on the money with this answer. Your domain registrar will help you change dns settings. Everything else should be done through Cpanel. Whm is for more advanced server options. You shouldn't need to modify it very much at all.
