Was looking for quality articles for guest posts but was sadly disappointed....

Last month I made the decision to open up my Blog to guest posts on a regular basis, previously it had been mostly my own work... however, that means I now need to go and source content that hasn't been spammed all over the place and is of a high enough quality to represent what I want for my Blog - if only it was EASY!

My first point of call was the article section here on the WF. Nup, no good - I scanned at least 20 articles over a few pages and they all appear to be article written purely for SEO results and not for providing solid info to people. Strike one.

Then I had another look through the major article directories. Nup, no good either. Most of these are filled with crap and many of the articles on them are now being scraped for spam websites. Strike two.

The I posted a JV request here in WF for quality article guest post writers and still couldn't find people who were up to speck.... sorry, but if your grammar is poor in your post I can't imagine how bad it will be for your articles!

Now I'm onto my backup plan, probably what I should have been doing the first time... searching out other blog owners who publish high quality content and care more about the people reading their articles than the way that the Google bot looks at them.

Here's an example of what I call an excellent quality Blog post at one of my favs SEOmoz

21 Tactics to Increase Blog Traffic (Updated 2012) | SEOmoz

Agreed, I don't expect that level every time, but half that would be nice!

Can you suggest a good Blog on either product creation, website design or internet marketing that I can take a look at... yours perhaps?

Look forward to your response

  • Paul,

Here is the last guest post I did:

What You Can Learn About Marketing From American Idol | Matt About Business

Is that more along the lines of what you had in mind?
  • Mate, what did you expect?

There is so much rubbish being churned out from 2nd rate writers.

    Such is life.

perhaps approach people with integrity to be guests? I'd be happy to do it because I understand the value of the exposure.

  • Paul,

I may be able to help. You can take a look at my blog and see if they are a fit.

I have been very busy lately so I have not updated it for a while.

    • Hello Diana, good to hear from you - I'm probably looking for perhaps a little more content in the body of the post... have you thought about doing that yourself?

I'll subscribe to your feed and keep an eye out fr suitable posts. Thank you.

Great resource Jo, thank you. Going to have a good look over it.

      Nice.

    • I too do some guest blogging using this site. The problem I have personally with it is the publishers are not the quickest. I usually write about trending subjects where time is of the essence if they want to get a quick influx of traffic.

Sometimes it can be queued for a week before it gets posted.
  • Steve, yes! Great article. In fact I was just talking to one of my coaching clients about that exact thing this afternoon - do you have your own IM blog as well? I'd rather link to a site that my readers are more likely to be interested in.

Hi Sal, glad you chimed in - would love to have some posts from you - send something through

    • Paul,

No, I don't right now. I just got into the IM vertical after being in everything else under the sun. I should start one, I suppose.... One more thing on the agenda.
  • Paul, have you considered "user generated content" at all?

In my experiences, sometimes some of the best content comes directly from your users.

Im in the process of having my blog software updated to include this function. Then I intend on implementing a follow up email within my autoresponder to ask for my subscribers "experiences".

Almost like a follow up if you will. But not so much feedback as in a testimonial, but moreso like .."Would you like to share your experiences with others here who have the same interest or problem".

Do you know what I mean?

For example... I sell a web design business startup kit, and Im often asked..."How can I find clients?" or "how do i charge for my work?"

If I ask my subscribers how they solve these problems, I can get ideas, and suggestions directly from them, to which other members can benefit from greatly.

Of course everything would be moderated from the admin section before going live. However over time, my content grows, it doesnt cost me anything, and I get some excellent GENUINE content that will only help build credibility and trust with my visitors.

I used this method for years before getting into IM, and it works a dream

Thanks for the idea.... going to look into it.

  • That's not a blog post that's an ebook!
Are you talking about length or quality?

    • "Are you talking about length or quality?", LOL - both! Quality isn't length and vsa versa. Someone once asked me 'how long should a good sales letter be...?' My answer was simple, "as long as it needs to be to get the message across." The same goes for a quality guest post.

Ray - I'd welcome some submissions form you. Thank you.

  • I've never looked for guest posters for my blog, but I imagine if I did I would start by doing it the "hard" way which be to troll this forum looking for members with blogs and checking them out. Then contacting them. Or doing a google search for something like: internet marketing "guest posting" or "write for us" or something like that.
  • I've used BloggerLinkUp in the past with a range of results - many good. I made sure I described my site well and really tried to push the fact I get a decent amount of readers (3000+/day) but still many people were using Guest Posts purely to generate a backlink. The lack of effort for writers to take a big chunk of my traffic was suprising - and few would go to the effort of creating content that would fit the flow of my site.

There are so many experienced article marketers on this forum stressing how powerful it is but how many are listening and taking the opportunity.

The problem is your niche, I think. You're asking for high quality, available, syndicable content in the IM market itself? That's never going to be trivially easy ...

Eeeww, that is disappointing. And slightly surprising. Nobody who wants stuff for people to read is going to publish articles apparently written "for SEO". :p

I don't look at them. I even paid for a year, to submit articles there, but haven't done one yet.

On the subjects you're looking for, yes. I'm sure that's right.

Were you offering payment? Or just offering links as payment?

Sorry not to be able to offer anything sensible/useful, here. It's a problem, I agree. The irony of it is that some of the people who are writing "for SEO", and imagine that article marketing is SEO-based, are themselves complaining that nobody syndicates their articles.

I'd do you an article, just for fun, but I know nothing about product creation or website design.
