Trust = Money.
The more people you can get to trust you, the more money you can make.
The more each person trusts you, the more money they are willing to spend with you.
Does the person trust you not to waste their time?
Does the person trust you not to be a liar?
Does the person trust you to be intelligent and provide accurate information?
Does the person trust you to not be a con artist running a scam?
Does the person trust you to deliver what you promise?
Does the person trust you to take care of any problems that may arise?
Most people know, on some level, that once you have a person's attention and they are interested in what you are selling, what you have to do is gain their trust. That way, if they have the money, they will buy from you. If not, maybe they will by later.
This is the reason for so many kinds of marketing and sales attempts, and everything from the common "guarantees" to people giving away the farm for free, and statements nobody believes such as, "I don't need your money" ...LOL, then why are you trying to sell me something!? We've all seen the fake earning screenshots, the fake pictures of wealth, and the suspicious testimonials. They are trying to earn trust because they know it is the different between you going away with less money but happy, or just plain going away.
It is the reason marketers always need salespeople (or salespages) and copywriters are able to make so much money, when they are good. It is what so many people try to do-- drawkcab and uʍop-ǝpısdn-- in forums and blogs and social networking sites all across the web.
It is the reason one poor fellow I met this morning tells me that he has been trying to get 100 good backlinks every day for the last 3 months... He didn't realize that what he is doing is trying to "borrow" a small amount of Trust from Google, which wasn't good for his information product at all. (Because when people search for something in Google, they are generally searching for free information, which they have come to trust the search engines will provide them with)
It is the reason so many people turn to article syndication-- They know that if they can write good articles and get people to read them, it will deliver credibility (a kind of trust) to thousands upon thousands of readers.
Here is the "secret" for all of you struggling marketers, who want this Internet Marketing dream so badly: Connect with people. Have a positive impact in their lives. Do this first, earn their trust, then try to sell things to them.
I could build an entire forum on this single idea, but I'll leave it to those people who are reading this post for now. And I'll leave it to you with just a single question which reflects your current income level more than you know... You don't have to answer to me or anyone else, but please look in the mirror and answer it to yourself:
How many people did you earn trust from today?
