Is anyone in the investing/finance niche?

Ok so me and my friend have a deal where he will write an ebook and I will set up the website and do all of the traffic driving and marketing, etc. (he is a stock market whiz - he's read like 40 books on investing and spends all of his free time reading news headlines and analyzing). So, we were deciding whether to make our product:

1.) A complete guide to his investing system - industry research, company research and analyzing, predictions, when to buy/sell, etc.

2.) Something more specific in this broad niche.

There are many, many products out there like option 1, so we would have a lot of competition. So, we were considering option 2. The first two subniches that come to mind are investing in penny stocks and short selling. My friend, for some reason, does not like penny stocks, so he has not spent a lot of time learning about them and investing in them (he's messed around with them in simulators, but he's never actually invested real money in them). So, we could not write an ebook about penny stocks. So, our focus shifted to short selling. So, I first went to clickbank, and I actually couldn't find one product based on short selling. I could only find stock market robots, complete systems, and products about penny stocks. I then went to Amazon, and found a few books, but the highest selling book was ranked at like 16,000 out of all books, and the rest were 30,000 and below - and dropped fast as I went down the list. I finally went to the google keyword tool and found a list of keyword phrases related to short selling and typed each into google to see if there were any google search ads for the keywords. Almost none of them had a single ad.

Does this mean that there is no money in the short selling subniche?

So, I am wondering if anyone else has products or websites in the investing/finance niche, and if so, would they mind sharing what their website/product's subniche or focus is?

I wasn't asking that lol. I was asking if anyone was in this niche themselves and knew of a profitable subniche they were willing to share with me. I also wanted to know if I had done my niche research the right way.

Honestly I am not in this specific niche but I have a few thoughts on this as have done a lot of investing myself and made a tidy sum a few years back

By the sounds of it I am not sure whether this would fit into the normal fitting of what I see from CB vendors. Most do seem to be robots and ways to make money by setting something up to run and then sit back and watch your money dissappear....oops I mean grow into millions

Not to say this will not work but I would try to get the ebook into video, showing some live trades, how they were identified what he looks at, daily routine and things like that (although an ebook would be a good addition to this). It seems more like a coaching program that you would offer with guides into different aspects of the trade. I would make it a higher end product too if this was the case as you are giving them a skill and not just some rubbish robot that will work for a week and thats it!!

You can also do some upsells for a weekly webinar subscription, and/or morning tips of trades to watch that day (these can be a monthly charge too so a reoccuring income).

Hope this helps you with it and I would also be interested in seeing it so keep me posted as have been considering getting back into day trading so always looking at new info and techniques (although mine is ok for a bit of pocket money).

Thank you so much for the response. That is a great idea turning it into a video course. We were actually going to make our sales pitch be that we are teaching them real techniques taught in school, not some risky system that worked for one person or a robot that could lose you a lot of money.
And a subscription newsletter or site is an excellent idea in this niche.
And I will definitely keep you posted on this. If we launch this I could give you a review copy? We would like a couple testimonials.

The penny stock market is extremely profitable if you know what you are doing. Even more so if you become a "promoter'... I own The Amazing Penny (a penny stock newsletter). If you have any questions just send me a message...

I am in real estate, investments, and stock market niches. You probably won't be able to rank your websites for any of these topics (at least I never have), but instead perhaps begin building lists of prospects for your ebook and training program. In addition, there are thousands of relevant books on Amazon that sell very well, and their ingenious system converts additional sales by offering similar books to your customers. An excellent book I've been selling for years (and made a fortune by reading) is "The Intelligent Investor", by Benjamin Graham, (revised edition 2003) with updates by Jason Zweig and commentary by Warren Buffett.

    Brendan Carl,

I've bin following this thread as I was doing similar research.

We officially launched a stock trading e-course that focuses on using social media monitoring tools to pick stocks. Some of it covers short selling for using trends to determine the bear market trends.

Would be great to have you as a partner so that you can test the waters with StockCertified program while your still building yours.

Press release & webinar for the product goes live tomorrow.

If your friend is really an expert or a pro in the stock market, and has proven track records, the money is in training people/students in a live class where you can openly show them your portfolio, your real account and your win/lose trades to prove that you were really what you claimed to be.

If you can do that, people/students will sign up for your live training class even if you charge $10,000. Because these people could be losing more money in the stock market if they don't attend your class.

Writing stock trading books or ebooks to earn money? Hmm... there are already so many of them... unless your investing/stock trading book is extremely good, making money from an ebook in this niche can be quite hard.

Just my 2 cents worth :-)

I would think there would be some profit in short-selling as a niche, as there are a lot of people interested in it. However, you can only really be sure by testing it, so it might be a bit of a risk to find out, if you put a lot of time into it.

I have a very broad auto-blog in money and finance, which some finance sites are happy to pay for links on, so it must be profitable for them to do so, so keep me in mind when you've got your site up

This might not be the right option. Sure your friend might have read a ton of books. But does he have practical experience? That is one thing everyone looks in this niche.
