My company domain name registred by another person

Hello,

I just created an LLC, but I found that companyname.com is already registered. Can I register or get this domain name from the registrar even if it is already taken by another one. I tried to contact the current domain name owner, but I didn't received any reply.

No, you're too late I'm afraid. You can try and buy it off its current owner, but if they registered it before your LLC was created, they may not want to sell and there's not a lot you can do about it.

Try a variation on the company name like companyname.org or companyname.net

No, you will need to get a hold of the current domain holder and buy it off him.

Many people search the new business lists and register their domain names before they get the chance in order to resell for a profit.

This guy just isn't responding. Either keep trying to contact him or check when the domain expires, try to snatch it as it's expiring if he does not renew.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Yep you need to contact the current owner to see if they will sell it. Alternatively go for .net or .org or do something like companynameLLC.com

Tough situation, and as everyone has mentioned there's really nothing you can do. If you can't convince this guy to sell, don't necessarily count yourself out as far as your business name goes.

If you're willing to work hard and build your name/brand, optimize your on-page SEO, then you can definitely show up ahead of this person in the search engines. This is by no means a death sentence for your business just because you can't get the '.com'.

If you can snatch up the .net or .org then go for it and work hard to outrank that business. You never know, the guy holding the 'yourbusinessname.com' might not even be in the same business, which means it really won't matter.

Just focus on building the best business you can with the URL you grab, and in the end you'll be fine.

    Hope that helps!

    Paul
