Are Comments On Your Blog KILLING Conversions?

by Snow_Predator 4 replies
Hi, I just discovered that enabling comments and discussions on my wordpress blogs actually totally kills my conversions.

This of course depends on your marketing model. Mine involves promoting an information product on a wordpress blog that is full of helpful articles.

When I started inviting comments, and replying to questions with lots of helpful detail, I found that I almost completely stopped making sales. I assume this would be due to the following reasons:

1. The call to action link at the end of each article is less easily noticed when it is followed by a lengthy scroll of discussion.

2. Many potential customers would see no point in buying a product when they can have their questions answered by the blog author in the comments section

Just thought I'd warn you, you might consider at least testing it yourself. The Thesis theme allows you to switch comments off easily on Wordpress, though I'm sure there are many other ways of doing it.

In most themes you can click screenshots and add the advanced options and paste ..
#comments {display:none;} into the head section and that page will not offer comments.

That's interesting. For me, having comments open and answering people's questions actually boost my sales. I think most people find comfort in being able to asking a question about a product and getting a response as well as seeing questions that other people have had and have gotten answers to.

Just to add a couple of cents to your remark Joey, Personally if I don't see a reasonable amount of interaction about a product, I shy away from it. I assume that there will not be support after the fact if I purchase the product if the author / vendor does not engage in discussion.

Most of the time i will filter my conversion landing page 's comment.
I only show those comment which is approve by me .

Because some comment may cause your reader think of other or misleading.
It still the best for you to direct communicate with every inquiry rather for them to search answer in comment.
