Was thinking of writing an eBook on how to use video editing programs like After Effects?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

YES! I would buy something like this. Videos are not my strong point
although I would like them to be, I find it difficult figuring out the whole
    editing process.

My my thoughts are GO FOR IT!

Totally depends on traffic searching for terms that would take them to your site IMO. If it is over a few thousand a month then yes it would be worth it and sell it on your site. I would assume that the SEO competition would be pretty low for this type of thing so well worth setting something up on autopilot then you will not need to do much with it when done.

Alright thanks, I'm going to go for it.

It will be an introduction to After Effects and be around 150 pages.

    Selling Price= $9.99

    Reasonable?

9.99 is fair for an intro I think its pretty cheap.

Video should be presented in video. I would pay 3x that if that report where in screenium tutorial formats instead.

I agree with him for sure! write the ebook and also make the video tutorials. sell the tutorials for $37 and give away the ebook for free. Also bonus in a webinar where you will answer questions and on that webinar give away some cool free gift and pitch your more advance program.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but if you really aren't comfortable with doing voice overs, you can hire people to do that for you - and it can be very reasonable. Just a thought.

But I was very uncomfortable with the idea of making videos where I did the narrations awhile back. I didn't think I had the "right voice" for it - but I couldn't outsource it. So I had to do it myself.

Now I'm pretty comfortable with it and nobody seems to mind if you don't have a "perfect voice." So I'd say give it a shot and see if you get more comfortable with it over time. If not, find someone with some experience who can do the voiceovers for you.

And yes, the overall idea of your product sounds great. People are always looking for more tutorials on making good marketing materials.

First off, yes it would sell. However, it depends on how you frame your offer.

Would I buy something that taught me how to use Adobe After Effects? Probably not, especially since I can go to the Adobe website and find tutorials myself. But would I buy something that would show me how to use Adobe After Effects to make amazing sales videos that will increase in conversions of my products, yes!

You can do these kinds of offers all day with that product. Most Internet marketers to use a video in some way or another, so it's up to you to figure out how they could use Adobe After Effects to do things in their business better, faster, cheaper, easier.

One suggestion though, don't ask if something is going to sell - especially in the forum like this. If you have a good idea, someone is going to beat you to it. The easiest way to find out if something is going to work is to create a short course and sell it. I'm not saying this to be discouraging, is just reality.

If you're really good with After Effects, I'm sure that you have the ability to create multiple high quality products that people would buy. Just figure out a problem that most video marketers have, and how you would solve it.

Video is a hot topic. Always a great choice. Do something to make it unique--in addition to covering the necessary basics, like, give away a collection of animated intro's and outro's, or something cool, that nobody else has in their course.

I would suggest you try and learn to like it . Besides, people love a Scottish accent (assuming your location in indicative of your origin, apologies if not!). Either way you will see FAR MORE success in this venture if you were to create a series of video tutorials about After Effects - specifically teaching the tool's applications in IM, making promo videos, etc...

You also have far more long-term earning potential doing it this way. You could start a membership site or newsletter an build a nice list, for example.

I learned to use after effects through youtube videos and playing around with video co-pilot (and their awesome video tutorials) - I don't think an ebook would have worked for me. It's a very robust tool and trying to learn it reading through a manual of sorts would have been a pain. Watching a video tutorial on the other hand was enjoyable and engaging, allowing me to work along side the video, learning as I went.

      My 2 cents!

    Thanks Eko.

    Yes, I'm from Scotland

I'll try and get into it then and make some video tutorials.

      Ewan,
I would utilize your accent... many people like that scottish accent... especially Americans... I am very partial to videos as they give us someone to get to know and like, so I have learned videos of ourselves really helps sell the product.. now if the product is bad then that is a different issue but if you have a good product.. which I think your idea would be then create a short video of yourself introducing the course and the benefits to others.. then do a set of video tutorials or just an ebook.. I think the video tutorials would be a better idea but I see you don't like doing the voice over part.. my advice is utilize your accent and do a video intro and a few video courses.

Yeah i think it would sell. Make sure the niche exists and that you can reach them in more than 1 way. Sounds like something i would buy. If you had an ebook about how to manuever in Photoshop or Gimp also... you would probably get crazy sales with this kind of ebook.

It's a good idea, there's already tons of books about it on Amazon.

You might be better of with videos though (assuming you can't go to YouTube and find the same tutorials for free).

You need to be more specific I think. Limit it to one type of software or a few type of actions ( how to make ... video, how to retouch video etc). You can better have a product that helps people out with specific problems than a very broad one I think. A broad ebook about how to use video editing software doesnt sound like it can sell too me. Simpl because there is too much free information on youtube, etc allready

I've been using After Effects and Premiere pro for a while now and from my past experience of trying to learn the two, reading helps very little. After Effects has so many little things that can only really be explained through motion (it is used for videos after all...). I would definitely suggest creating a video course, something simple for newbies!
