Looking for opinions. If you are going to set up a blog that is going to lean towards IM and your using a personal name like JohnSmith, what would be better .co or .net? .com is not available.

johnsmith.co
johnsmith.net

Thanks for your input.
#net

      Likewise, I would also go the .net route if .org and .com are taken.

    If you are using your name
    then what you need to keep
    in mind is that you are using
    a personal name as a brand.
    Therefor you should consider
    using a .me extension instead.

    .net, .com and .org are the same in the eyes of the search engines, just type in whatever search and you will see what I mean, .info and all the other tld's are not as easy to rank, but not impossible.

    Since your looking for opinions...

    Mine is .net

    Not everyone has heard of the .co extension...if you tell someone your website is johnsmith.co they might look at you like they are highly confused.

    In my opinion, .com, .org and .net are the most well known extensions out there.

      Personally I would also go with the .net. However, I would much rather the .com and given the fact that it is taken, I would rather add a prefix or suffix to get the .com domain instead. Reason being, since this is a personal name them a lot of persons will just type the name in their browser and click "CTRL + Enter and the .com domain will load!

    Hi Leemax, Yah I would definatley go for the .net as it is more commonly used so people will be more apt to click on a click with a .NET extension.
