The New Rules of Internet Marketing
I spent far too much in the supermarket. I have spent far too much on fuel in my car bearing in mind that I don’t need it for work. It’s a non-essential expense that needs to be cut.
But by far my biggest expense is Internet Marketing. It’s hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
Now some of you might say you have got to spend money to make money. This is true but warren buffet has another rule that contradicts this. He says rule number one never lose money and rule number two is never forget rule number one.
I haven’t made a penny. Not a single cent and I don’t believe I’m the only one.
Far too many of us are treating internet marketing like a hobby. Something to past time to justify spending money with the hope that someday it will work, that you can leave your 9-5 and live happily ever after.
We are waiting for some miracle to somehow happen that one day it will just work. It’s the same for the millions who play the lottery week in week out and never win because the odds are stacked against you. Do you think that warren buffet plays the lottery?
So I hit the nail on the head for some and others are thinking where is this guy heading?
Well I will tell you. I have decided to come up with some rules for myself that maybe someone else can find benefit from. It’s more to hold me accountable because those who are around me either don’t understand IM or they can’t see it working because it hasn’t happened yet.
So here are my new rules of internet marketing.
Rule 1: Treat Internet Marketing like a business not a hobby.
-If it’s not making you money cut it from your budget.
-Don’t let your day job pay for training. Make it pay for itself.
-Don’t buy a great domain name if you have three others that you still haven’t done anything with.
-If you have websites that aren’t making you any money then sell them or make other uses out of them like a test site for example.
-A dollar saved is a dollar earned.
Remember Gordon Gekko saying “Nothing upsets me more than losses”
Rule 2: Have a plan and stick to it.
-Pick one project to work on at a time.
-Don’t read a single info product that is not relayed to your goal.
-Write down all your ideas in a book and refer to it when you have completed the project you’re on.
-Aim for quality not quantity. The first stage is about making a little money the second stage is scaling it up to make lots of money.
Rule 3: Stop downloading illegal copies of info products and software.
-Stay away from the freebie forums you don’t need it.
-Everyone loves freebies but you don’t use something properly unless you have paid out for it with your own hard earned cash.
-If you can’t afford it then save up for it or pay someone who has a copy. Plenty on fiverr or odesk.
-If it doesn’t make any money then sell it.
-It’s not going to make you a profit then you don’t need it.
Rule 4: Keep accounts
-Track your progress
-Let’s you know how well your doing
-Keep it in a safe place away from the tax man
-Keeps you accountable to your self
-Allows you to keep track of your spending
