Google can't find my blog.

I created a blog last week and so far none of my posts are indexed. So far I have 8 posts and 6 pages. I have:
  • submitted the site map to Google
  • Submitted the blog itself to Google
  • Pinged some of the posts
  • Submitted several posts to Digg
What other steps should I take?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ann,

    1. How are you judging whether or not the posts are indexed?

If you're searching in Google like "site:"

you need to try site:http://yoursite.com as well as site:www.yoursite.com and site:yoursite.com

It does funny things and sometimes your pages will come up for one and not another.

    2. If you do search and find that no posts are indexed yet:

    a) Is your home page indexed?

    b) Have you got recent posts displaying so that your posts are getting linked to from your home page?

    c) if yes to the above, you just need more links, and to wait a little longer. Try submitting some articles to article directories linking back to your website, and submissions to site directories. There are many ways to get links.

    d) on a side note, you may not be indexed by G but you might already be in the MSN listings which can bring in a few visitors.

Bottom line: Keep publishing great content and finding new ways to get the word out about it and you'll be indexed and seeing traffic soon enough

    Hi,

It's only been a week... but even at that, should be indexed...

Have you tried pinging the front page and
including the feed URL in the ping?

Oh, and don't forget... a good keyword
phrase to use as the title/description.

    HTH

Here is how you can get your pages indexed in a matter of 1-24 hours.

1.Write articles with your site in resource box.
2.Socialmarker.com - use all this social bookmarking sites on ur blog and ALL of your posts.
3.Hubpages - make hubs about ur blog - social bookmark these as well.
4.Make a squidoo lens about your blog - social bookmark this to (could even include it in ur articles resourcebox with your site)
5.Find high page ranked blogs (google toolbar) comment these blogs with your site.
    6. Digg.com stories get indexed in google within a few minutes to an hour (just a reference to socialmarker.com)
    7. Write a press release to your blog.
    8. If you want to spend alittle money then have someone else write articles for you.
    9. Find yahoo related answers for your niche and post your site with a helpfull comment.
    10. Write your blogs domain name on the rear window of your car (have not tried this but have always wanted to)

Of course these are easy ways. Just google SEO and you should get plenty of more ways.

To check your backlinks or to see if your indexed yet on google type in

      "yoursite.com"

      if you do this:

      "site:yoursite.com" or "http"//www.yoursite.com"

      It probably wouldn't show anything.

EDIT- trying to figure out yahoo backlinks is a bit different I think

For future reference, don't submit your site map to google (unless you're indexed already, and even then don't go out of your way to update it often). Let it find you on its own. If I was designing a good search engine (and rag on google as I might all the time, they have the best one around) I'd give sites the spiders find on their own a lot more weight than the spam sites people send me.

All In One SEO is good, and I used it for a while, but Platinum SEO is far better. Heres why:
      * Automatic 301 redirects for any permalink changes
      * Optimized Post and Page Titles for search engines
      * Generates all SEO relevant META tags automatically
      * Helps you avoid duplicate content
      * Lets you override any title and set any META description and META keywords, for any post or page
      * Compatible with most other plugins, like Auto Meta, Ultimate Tag Warrior and others. However you may have to disable All in One SEO pack
      * You dont have to fear changing permalinks. If you are not satisfied with the current permalink, change it through Settings>Permalinks in your admin panel, without worrying about loss of Page rank or google penalty.Platinum SEO plugin will take care of issuing a 301 redirect to the new location. This is a new essential feature, not present in All in one SEO
      * Add index, noindex, follow or nofollow, noodp, noydir, noarchive, nosnippet meta tags to any post/page.These options are not available in All in one SEO Pack.Find out why this option to set post/page level Meta Robots Tag useful?

AND USE WordPress › MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer WordPress Plugins TO DO THE PINGING FOR YOU AND YOU WILL BE INDEXED QUICKLY.. We get our posts indexed and ranked 10 minutes after posting.

Have you checked your site's log files, to see if Google spidered your site?
    If they have, just wait.

Otherwise, do you have a Google Webmaster Tools account?
If not set one up for your site.
Then check the Diagnostics section for errors.

    Hey mrs,

I don't know what's your name but I see you posting different threads here and that is telling us all that you are interested in learning.

Google doesn't searches for your blog

You got to let google know that it exists.
If you already didn't go to google.com/addurl and submit it.

Then visit digg.com and add your site there including a few articles from it.

In 1 day or less you're gonna be indexed. If you're not do a couple of link exchanges with blogs that are already listed and try some article marketing or create a squeedo lens or hubpages

    Best of luck to you!

Best way is not to submit to google but to let google find you through a link
