No you pretty much have the basics. I wouldn't do it just to play around with though, as you can build a serious business this way. If you don't go in with that mindset, you won't get the most out of your time/money. Make sure you set up some custom thank you pages, and then have a quality offer and follow up campaign. I recommend small solo ads to test your funnel as this is usually some of the highest quality traffic you can find. Any other questions just ask!

You're on the right track... the key will be getting traffic to your opt-in page, into your sales funnel, and then to track, test, and tweak everything.

My favorite way of getting fast yet highly targeted traffic is to run a solo ad - which means you'll find someone in your niche and pay them to pitch an offer to their list for your free product. If you can get a good number of people to your squeeze page this will be step 1 in tracking everything.

You'll want to determine how many people initially landed on your squeeze page and then how many actually opted in - this will tell you if your squeeze page is good. You want to test this and make slight adjustments until you have a decent percentage of people opting in. I find that the cooler your free opt-in gift and the more insane value it offers, the more people are going to want it. For example, a video tutorial teaching something that is not readily available for free is a good start.

You then need to fill your email sequence (sales funnel) with a ton of high-quality information. Build the relationship between yourself and your leads - the better job you can do initially the more trust you'll gain with your subscribers and the more they'll be likely to buy when you pitch offers.

There's an easy way to track everything through aweber, just check 'reports' and you can see how many people are opening each email and how many are clicking the links in each email. Your job as an internet marketer is to figure out what's working for each email and what isn't - so if you notice that the 1st email in your sequence has a 50% open rate, but the 2nd is only being opened at 15%, then you know something should be adjusted with the 2nd email. Probably starting with a tweak to the headline - which is the major reason why people click your emails.

Simply follow what happens as you progress, and when you finally get yourself to the point where your optin page is converting well, all of your emails are being opened, and you know that your sales funnel is working, then you can really lay it on with list building.

This all sounds straightforward, but it does take some work in order to really fine-tune everything to the point where it's a well-oiled machine. Simple, but not easy as the saying goes.

After a while, you should also be able to determine how much money each new subscriber is worth to you, at which point spending money on solo ads and other paid methods is worthwhile as long as you know you'll recruit a certain number of clicks from each list-building method.

Start slowly and ask lots of questions in the forum and you'll be successful!

Traffic for testing? Signatures in forums like are quite often a good source of traffic, also providing quality comments in similar themed blogs that allow you to link back to your blog. Don't spam though just for the sake of getting your link out, surefire way of ruining your reputation.

Your content has got to provide value to entice the reader to join, so if you don't know too much about IM, you could use a plr ebook and make it into a course (obviously put your own spin on it) or do it on something you know a lot about first.

You have the basics but are missing the most important step that most newbies and courses skip right over and yet that every experienced marketer does religiously.....market and keyword research.

There is a much more likely chance that someone can make money in a market where they are selling what people are already buying AND does not have a ton of competition.

I personally make much more money in my niches that ARE NOT internet marketing related.

I also know someone who finds hot products and then sells accessories for them from Amazon.com.

If you are going to do this, know this, it takes work to really run an online business and make money.

Anyone can put up sites and do the simple steps once they have some good step by step instructions. But to actually make money takes picking a good market doing thorough research at the front end and then doing all the steps to get good targeted traffic in the back end.

For testing of the traffic, I would suggest to you to purchase solo ads (paid traffic) to drive traffic to your squeeze page. You might wish to add an OTO so as to see if converts well.

If you want to go into affiliate marketing, then the pre-frame and pre-sell to get the list into buying mood. The follow-up campaigns play an important element when it comes to this business model.

Of course, it might not be easy task initially. You will need to test and tweat along the way.

I recommend going to blogspot.com and posting from their. You don't need to pay with hosting automatically listed in google and it only costs $10/year.

This is the gist of things. With this plan you can't go wrong. Be sure to fill up your autoresponder with new content everyday... same with your website.

Best traffic would be PPC if you are doing some testing. But stay away from the big 3...Google, Facebook, until you know that your page is converting.
