I am behind the times-BlogTalkRadio

Sometimes I am my own worse enemy. I am so busy working on my business, I tend to put off new technologies and education.

By education meaning that I tend to not put too much stock into new social applications(I still don't have a facebook account and only recently got a Twitter one) because I don't have the time to learn how to use them.

Actually I do have the time, I just don't make the time. So my lack of education to branch out and try new tools that could benefit me is actually hurting me(or at the minimum, slowing my growth).

Obviously I am well aware of BTR(blogtalkradio), and was even interviewed about 4-6 months ago. Heck, I even signed up for an account back in June of last year. I made a couple of entries about my website and then left it for dead.

Throughout the time between opening my account and now, I had always seen my BTR page listed in page one for results associated to my site, but did nothing about it.

Well a couple weeks ago I was interviewed on VegasVince's show(still recovering) and once again realized how powerful a medium the show was. So I bit the bullet and instead of blowing it off decided to go ahead and learn how to use the application, and have done 3 shows so far.

Each show has gotten better, and I am still learning. But even though I have a whopping 3 shows under my belt and 2 of them really suck, it does drive traffic and works as a great promotional tool and educational resource.

So aside from singing the praises of what everyone else most likely already knows:rolleyes:, I would like to remind everyone to alot some time each week to keep yourself educated and try out new things. Some may work, some may not. But when you are so wrapped up in "work" you forget about your continuing education...chances have it you are falling behind.

Ok, back to work. I am going to go research this iPod thing. I hear it may catch on.

Haha. I think so. To be honest I have no friggin clue. There is a little ipod button on everyones show though

Actually I was only half kidding about the iPod deal. My kids have one, and I got one for xmas, and its still in the box...I am getting closer. By the time I use it, it will be obsolete!

You can download the shows. Just click the download button under each and the download will start. Depending on how you have your settings, it will either download, or stream on WMP. Just have your settings correct and you should be able to download them to your computer. We have started with BlogTalkRadio as well and having a good response. We've done only 3 shows on there but they're not so good but I must give credit to my staff members for being able to hold an hour and a half show. It's much harder than it sounds. I would probably be able to just talk about 5 minutes and then be mute So it takes some skill to be able to talk that long. Here;s the latest show we did: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Coaster-Crazy-Radio

Haha. My first show I didnt really prep for very well and said everything in my notes within 10 minutes. It was a 30 minute show and I had to fumble around for the next 20 minutes.

It IS alot harder than it looks, but it does get easier. I still got a ways to go.

But my point of the thread was more about making the time to continue your IM education and not about the show itself. I was using BTR as an example.
