Take Advantage Of People Passing Around Your Stuff

We all know that digital theft exists and we try to do what we can to stop
it by doing a number of things, depending on our budget and tolerance of
this crap.

1. Putting PDFs in zip files so that they're not indexed.

2. Changing download URLs regularly if we don't have link generators like DLGuard

3. Getting a free script from those shareware sites. They're not great but
they're better than nothing.

4. Getting something like DLGuard (IMO the best option)

5. Use Google alerts to find any sites that are selling our stuff and
contacting the hosting company, site owner, etc. and threatening action.

But no matter what we do, we can't totally stop digital theft.

So...why not take advantage of it?

How?

Something that we should be doing anyway to make more money on the
backend of our products...by putting offers in our products.

Just a few minutes ago I got a signup for one of my programs and I looked
at the name and it was definitely not somebody who purchased any of
my products. So they obviously either purchased it illegally OR they got
it free from somebody.

Now, I know most people think that those who steal products will never
buy anything in them, and maybe this person did just buy it illegally without
knowing it, but in either case, I just made $15 from somebody who I might
have never reached because somebody else sold or gave away my product
illegally.

This is why it's not a bad idea to just create free ebooks with backend
offers in them and upload them to those sites where you can download
free ebooks. I've done this with one of my ebooks and have gotten
hundreds of subscribers because of it,.

As a matter of fact, here is a list of some of the best sites around IMO.

And of course there are many more. IMO, the best sites, like free-ebooks,
are the ones that make you become a member in order to download ebooks
from them.

Now, the key to getting your ebook downloaded is to include a great
description of what it has in it...almost like when you're writing a call to
action for your resource box. You want it to sound like your ebook is
really worth getting.

Anyway, this isn't going to stop digital theft but it will at least give you a
chance to not come away empty handed when it happens.

Of course, it's in your best interests to make sure that your books only
get into the hands of those who are legally entitled to have them.
