Source of CB 'Bonus' funds?

I'm new to Warrior Forum but this looks like the place I can get an answer for a good? problem I am having on ClickBank.

Last month I received a payment for $350, which was listed as a 'Bonus' payment. Next one was $750 and the third coming is about $2400. These are listed as 'Bonus' as opposed to sales.

Can anyone tell me how I might find out where these bonuses are coming from? I don't recall signing on with any sort of special promotion, but I'd sure like to focus my promotion efforts on the source, obviously. I'm just hoping that this isn't some fluke/mistake and a month down the line I get a message from CB asking for a return of this money.

Help, anyone?

  • I assume this is the Transactions Report and 'Bonus' appears in the Trn Type column

    If so what is the Item number in the next column ?

    • OK, the Item Number is bons-0001, and in doing a search, found this:

      "The 20% of our activation charge ($9.99) that you earn when a referred vendor signs up will appear under transaction type "bons-0001″ in the transaction detail. Your 5% of our markup for all sales made by that vendor for a full year appear as transaction type "bons-0001″ in the transaction detail."

      Still, that is a lot of cash for that sort of return. So, the answer seems to be that someone who signed up under me is making a LOT of serious sales from CB (My Bonus of 2729.68 would be 5% of about 54,600) or he/she is signing a serious number of vendors under them, generating about 1.1Mil, if I am not mistaken...(?)

      If I am correct, please point me in the direction of a similar program...!

    No I was not intending to refer any vendors at all. I would say that yes, I got extremely lucky. Still, I would like to have a way to know who it is so I could learn from him or her. I think that if one had a ton of vendors and got even 10% of them producing, I suppose it would be worth the effort...

    • Basically you struck lucky.
      You happened to sign up a new vendor who has made lots of sales.

      Yes the referral program lasts for one year. It's impossible to predict the future growth of a product especially if you don't know what it is.

      You could ask ClickBank if they can provide the vendor account name then you could look in more detail at the past history using a service such as CBEngine.

      However if you can find the product I have some ideas for you

      1. The more sales of the product then the more bonuses you get. So you could promote it as an affiliate (and get affiliate commission as well as bonuses).

      2. But better still promote the affiliate program itself. So you will recruit affiliates and they will be making the sales.

      3. Before you start with (2) contact the vendor and suggest that you want to have an affiliate referral contract with him where you get a share of the earnings of the affiliates you recruit. See Joint Venture

      To convince him why you would be a worthy partner explain the reason why you would be motivated to recruit affiliates (because of the bonuses - which are taken from ClickBank's profits not his) and also arrange that the contract period ends ** when the year is up (so he will no longer be paying you for affiliates you have recruited)

      ** Update: actually there's no need to limit the contract to the year end unless he is hesitant about JVing with you
