I've got a brain freeze..I can't write on my subject..

Hey guys,

Jeremy here. I am currently doing the 30 Day Challenge, and so far, up until day 15 or so, I was doing great. I had a list of about 3-4 micro-niches, and I finally randomly picked one, but, it happened to be a sub-niche of something that I love.

I was going so well, but, now am having trouble going further. I am having trouble writing. I guess I am having complete brain farts. This micro-niche of this niche I am really not familiar with, so, I have been guessing. I have 5 blog posts, I think, I've socially marked them, I have set up a Hubpages and a Squidoo lens, and now need to start writing Ezinearticles and set up for Weebly.

My micro-niche is "Star Trek Action Figures." I am already on page one, but, have completely run out of ideas. What are some ways I could go? I thought of looking at individual toys, and writing reviews on several, each one in a different blog. However, I was never into the toys myself, but, I love Star Trek (except for Enterprise.)

Thanks for the jumpstart to the brain to get me going.

Jeremy

That was pretty neat. Not the kind of brain freeze I am having, but, still, it was good.

Some ideas to help your brain unfreeze

      - On google search for star trek action figures but within blogs (click on "more", then "blogs"), see what kinds of conversations are going on

      - search for "star trek +forum" (w/o quotes) and visit some popular high traffic forums in your niche, utilize search functions at the forums for your keywords and see what people are talking about

      - post about individual star trek action figures?

      - create a poll (or contest?) to vote on your favorite action figure

      - are there any new and upcoming action figures?

      - are there "fakes" around? You could write about how to identify if your star trek action figure is authentic or not (don't know if that applies here or not)

      - make an opinionated post on your favorite action figure
      - do the same for your least favorite

      - make a post about the very first star trek action figure released?

These are all just suggestions and I don't even know squat about the niche, but maybe they'll get the juices flowing...

      Good luck,
      Karen

        Jeremy,

I just did a google search using the key words "star trek collectors".

I'm not star trek savvy but there are loads of different ideas about different star trek products (tv guides who knew:p)

Could you maybe do different category's of product on your blog about the different products?

        Jeremy,

Sticking with the idea about auctions, I just did a search on eBay and found that there are 2,186 results found for the star trek action figures search term. You could look thru a few of the listings and see what key points the seller is mentioning in his/her eBay listing. You could use these key bullet points if you will and expand upon them and rephrase them.

What about becoming an eBay affiliate and linking these auctions to your blog and make some eBay affiliate cash. I don't know if that was part of your plan or not but just another idea.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

hey Jeremy, it's funny you should post that you are going to read and go to bed, because when I get a "brain freeze" guess what I do?
I turn off the TV or radio, and curl up with a good book.
Then that gets me back into a good frame of mind to begin writing again.

Good luck with your awesome niche!

First of all Jeremy you shouldn't post your niche, unfortunately people will "steal" it... Secondly, here's what Gary Halbert (or was is John Carlton) who said if you ever get a brain freeze then you don't know enough facts about your market.

Study your market more and I'll bet you'll get over the "brain freeze"

Well, there are 2 things. #1, this is more for me to learn, rather than earn income. If I happen to make money from this website, then, yay for me, or, as Ed Dale says, "good on me for it." I have several other niches that I know that I can monetize.

Secondly, there aren't too many people out there that are Star Trek nerds like I am. I wear my pocket protector with pride!

Ha! But there are a few of us around.

Can you pick up a Star Trek magazine? They have tons of ideas for products and niches.

Would it be considered "Spam" (or another type of terminology) if I wrote a blog post, talking about a specific character, and then giving 5-10 links where action figures of that character could be purchased? I didn't know if multiple links in one blog post would be considered bad or not.

I am thinking, correct me if I am wrong, that these links would not be "paying" links, but, rather, links that people could go, look, and purchase (where I would not receive any commission.)

I don't know for sure about this one but my personal opinion would be that would be too many links. Can you break up the blog post into smaller chunks and spread it out over a few days? That way you are providing more fresh content also.

I don't see anything wrong with these links being affiliate links that could generate some extra cash for you. I see tons of marketers blog post that have "paying" link for either their own products or products they are affiliates for. I think the key is once again to not get carried away with the number of links included in the post.

Hey Jeremy, when I get into these freeze's which I'm sure the majority of us do, I find it mighty helpful to start drawing diagrams and circles.

Try circling a key word and drawing numerous arrows around it pointing to a variety of different concepts within that particular key-word - so maybe Arrow 1: can relate to misconceptions people have about it

    2: similiar products or services

    3: Notable experiences you've had

    4: Short-term and long-term disadvantages / advantages

Hopefully that might fire you up...!
