Anyone using Adobe After Effects For Their Videos???

Anyone out there using After Effects?

I thought about buying it today and wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

I've seen some really great looking videos made with the software but is it necessary?

If not I'll just stick with the basics for now.

Thanks,

After effects was created for artists who specialised in motion graphics as well as general post production. The program however isn't really designed for use solely as a film editor. The program does not like long video sequences. Nor is it a good sound editor.

Depends what you are looking to do. It certainly makes creating professional motion graphics a lot easier and basic special effects.

There are plenty of video tutorials on YouTube as well as many training providers such as Lynda.com who offer training. Look up some videos and then decide if it suits your needs.

I've been fortunate to be the owner of the Adobe Master Collection CS5 -- and it's got AfterEffects in it.

The program does give you a lot of freedom to do TONS of thing with video (as do several of the other programs in the suite) but with a steep learning curve.

If you're comfortable with the "basics" then stick to those -- but on the side continue your education by learning how to use a program like this; it will pay off because the more interesting and professional your videos come off, your conversions will be higher.

Additionally, remember that a lot of people know the "basics". Once your able to leave that group and elevate yourself to the next level of folk that can do more than the basics, then you start to get into a position where you're able to offer a paid service to people because yup, most people can't get beyond the basics.

I've never heard of that one until now. Wow that must be really cool to have.

I've never been the type to want to stay stagnant.

My videos are already pretty good looking but after seeing some of the stuff that can be done in After Effects it made me want to give it a try.

These are the types of videos I would have thought would cost an arm and a leg to get produced so I thought It would just be wise to buy the software and do them myself.

Here's an example to show you what I mean. It's a 10-second intro I did.
