Going into drop-ship and opening my online store, need advices??

Okay here's the deal; I've been IM'ing for quite a few years now and selling e-books and affiliate marketing was my main thing. Now I'm thinking of opening my own online store and the wholesaler does dropship.

Here's the thing; they only accept T/T and western union as a method of payment and no paypal. If I were to open my online store, how am I supposed to make this whole payment thing happen?! O_o

I got no problem building a website but its the whole payment procedure and shipping that's making me trip. Never did drop ship and all.

I'd recommend studying and documenting yourself about integrating a secure payment option on your website, I personally wouldn't use paypal on this type of website.

I would avoid dropshipping if the supplier is in a foreign country (instead I'd buy wholesale), unless you make it clear in your sales page/website that the goods are being shipped from abroad. I had a friend who was dropshipping from China and selling on ebay, and got negative feedback and chargebacks whenever his supplier was late to deliver (when they ran out of stock). You also need to be wary of scammers.

I would recommend finding a different drop ship company. Companies that only accept T/T and WU can be quite risky to do business with if you don't know them well and haven't had any previous experience with.

I highly do not recommend going with a company that can accept Western Union and T/T as the sole method of payment. Try to find some other reputable company who will allow flexible terms and other methods of payment and also is in the same country as you.

If you have no other options, then one thing you can do is "test" out the supplier by ordering a small quantity and see if its as described when you receive it. Worst case scenario is that you lose out on a small amount of money, best case is that you found yourself a new supplier. Hope this helps.

Those limited choices increase the odds that someone is flying under the radar
IMO...as suggested have sample orders sent to you before you subject your people to frustration,

I use dropshippers and agree with the other posts that if they aren't flexible with their payments terms then I would probably give them a miss. There are plenty of drop shippers out there. Also, when you find one, place a few orders yourself to test their quality and reliability.

I found it hard to make money after all the shipping and all. Perhaps I didn't give it a good enough run. Good luck to you

We are at a point where people can easily connect with distributors and manufacturers, and low MOQ's are possible to make a profit on. Do you think people spend millions on buying goods, warehousing them, and pay for labor to ship them out so that they can make a base percentage on all of their good or categories allowing you to make the rest? No, it's all about being the B-guy connecting the A-guy and C-guy. You need to be the B-guy too in order to thrive, because you won't make it making 12 cents for every generic iPod holding fitness band you sell.

Im not saying dropshipping is a lost cause, people (including myself) have made a living from it - but I don't recommend it. Have the goods in hand, invest your own money, make the actual profit, grow your inventory, etc. You would be surprised how fast you could move your inventory by being able to undercut competition by 5%.
