Hi

Apart from aweber are ther any other good options of capturing email addresses from a W.P site? Nothing fancy needed just basic text messages from time to time

Thank you

to get email adresse that gonna be hard but you could just build a fanpage or a twitter account and tell them if they like your content they could follow you that way and you got a way of contacting them

but if you plan to build a list to promote i would suggest a list service if money is the problem try chimpmail thats free till 2000 subscribers

    Give incentives like freebies.
You can use pop up with few second delay: "sign up for my weekly updates and get this and that for free"

The question seems slightly unclear to me, because, if you want to ethically get an email, then you need an autoresponder like Aweber.

The same code can be added, formatted, designed for your needs, but they need to, at least, type down the email address themselves.

There some very good places where to add an optin box:

    a) in the sidebar
    b) after each single blog post
    c) on the "about" page
    d) on your resource pages
    e) below the header or logo
    f) add an exit pop-up

Of course, you will drastically maximize the optin rates if you offer a free report, ebook, video. Also, you can add a banner and then redirect them to a squueze page.

The only emails that matter are the emails of your customers.

You get those from your merchant account interface, your shopping cart or PayPal. All three should provide you a comma separated download file of your customer information.

      Hi,

You could add a WP plugin - search the WP plug ins for something like DDForm, or you could also have look at what is available in the Control Panel from your webhost. Look for Softalicious there for all sorts of goodies.

There are some basic email newsletter systems there, for free, which might do what you need. Not as good as an autoresponder servcie, but possibly enough for your requirements.

      Kind regards,

      John

I was just about to write the same John :-)

If the reason why you don't want to use Aweber is the money, there are definitely some free options like WP plugins. I used some of the plugins in the past, but never had a good success with them. I'd rather pay every month to Aweber.
