Am I being unreasonable...?

Do you think I am being unreasonable? All thoughts welcome...

I bought a WSO at lunchtime today (UK time, of course) and received nothing. No download link, nothing.

I left a polite post on the thread giving the transaction id and asking if the seller could please pm me the download link. That was 7 hours ago.

Since then I left another post....still polite and was happy to edit it to thank him for sending the pm but still nothing...

Since then I have seen the seller on the forum and thought, great he's here, I'll get my pm now. Nothing!

It's just gone 8pm here and if I don't get it soon it'll be time for bed.

What would you do?

Regards to all,

Peter

Is he not using a product delivery company like WarriorPlus?

If Warrior+, you can login there to get the download link.

    Same with JVZoo and DigiResults.

To answer your question, I think you should give him 24 hours anyway.

How would I find that out, Bill? When I hit the buy button I was taken to paypal, paid, and then got nothing more except a paypal receipt.

      Thanks.

Look at the buy button on the sales thread.

If Warrior Plus or JV Zoo, it will have a "Powered by" on the Buy button.

Mouse over that button and see what the actual url is. That is also a good indicator, because if he is using a delivery system, the buy button will take you actually to the delivery website before redirecting you to paypal.

      Thanks for that, Bill.

Sadly, it's just a text link that takes you to paypal.

      You live and learn

    You still have options.

There is no live and learn experience here.

Give him 24-72 hours to deliver, then go to the sales thread and hit the Report button to bring the matter to the attention of the moderators.

You will also have up to 45 days to file a complaint with PayPal for non-delivery, from which you can get a payment reversed.

Also check your spam folder if you haven't already, see if there's something in there. I know it sounds obvious.

        Peter,

You don't say how old the WSO is. If it's recent, the thread should be closely monitored by the product owner. If it's several weeks old, perhaps the owner isn't revisiting it regularly.

Either way, have you tried sending a PM?

          Thanks for the replies everyone!

          Bill, I'll be patient!

Yes, Gail, I had checked my spam folder. Good advice though, thanks!

13th February, Frank, so fairly recent. It must have been bumped too because it was on the first page yesterday and is on page 2 today.

I'll sleep on it and send a pm tomorrow if I have heard nothing by then.

My finger was hovering over the paypal dispute button but I have calmed down a bit now. You just expect instant delivery these days, don't you

Personally, I think you are being a bit unreasonable.

I do expect instant delivery but sometimes there is a glitch.

And I know in my heart of hearts (although I may be wrong), that I will never get ripped off from a WSO. (I mean in delivery...not content..).

I'm not sure what the time difference is between the UK and seller, however, a 24 hour waiting period the least you can do. 48 is better.

Of course you emailed him. You PM'd him on the Forum. Every paypal payment has an email attacher to it. You can send an email to that address.

You need to give someone at least 24-48 hours to get back to you with their product.
    At least.

Please post here when you have resoution.

And I know this will be resolved much sooner than you think!

I don't think he's being unreasonable at all.

The man has handed over his hard earned money and at the VERY LEAST somewhere in the process he should have been informed of how/when his product would be delivered. These business practices wouldn't fly in the real world so why should they be okay in the WSO section?

You're assuming that he was not informed of how to collect the download, but maybe he was. Sometimes the seller thinks the instructions (or placement of the instructions) are obvious, but they are not.

Not saying this is the case here, but I am saying that we have no way of knowing unless we go through the exact same buying process.

The part that bothers me, a little, is that the seller has been to the WF since the OP sent a message. That could be easily explained if the seller comes to the WF first, and THEN checks e-mails. Who knows?

Right now, I would advise anybody to wait 24 hours before escalating it. Also, if it's a digital item, a PayPal dispute may or may not result in a refund, even for non-delivery.

I don't think the OP is being inreasonable, just concerned. I don't think the seller is ripping him off either, at least not yet.

        All the best,
        Michael

Point well taken. You will get no argument from me.

He should be informed about what is happeneing. Agreed.

My point is that there may be circumstances beyond the sellers control.
My personal notion is waiting 24 hours is reasonable.

Whenever I have a problem or issue with one of my customers, I respond immediately.
And I am sure you do the same.

But I can only respond when I get the message.

I have had some issues that I could not respond to immediately. I did the best I could, but it was not immediate.

Waiting a bit for a response is not unreasonable, IMHO.

Agreed. I would be polite/patient for at least 24 hours too.

Just pointing out that if the seller didn't provide clear instructions that he should be looking at his sales process if he wants to keep his customers happy. So I think we're essentially saying the same thing.

I too couldn't find a download link on a recent purchase and saw that the download link did not look like a button and didn't say download. If you were required to give your email on an optin page check to see if there is clickable text, mine was just the product name under the optin and I breezed right by it. Went back to the optin as directed and there it was, the product name in text, but clickable.

I wouldn't say you're being unreasonable but a bit of patience wouldn't hurt. There are often things that go wrong that publishers have no control over. If it's not solved within 1 or 2 days then I'd complain.

I've often had things go wrong for no reason whatsoever when people have tried to d/l my keyword research ebook. When there is a glitch you can't do anything about it.

Sometimes, it may appear that someone is active on a forum when actually he's not. For example, if somebody else uses the same computer a forum page can be reloaded unintentionally or on browser restart (if a session with multiple tabs is saved in the web browser). I don't say this is the case but it's possible. So it's always good to wait a little bit. You have anyway 45 days to request a refund on PayPal unless the seller is a real scammer and has already withdrawn the money from his account.

Paypal has a stupid way of directing to your purchase, because you fall on the reciept page and there is no instruction on what to do to access your purchase. I'm not sure if you can get back to this page, but this is where you click to go to access your purchase:

Just as an aside, it doesn't matter if the seller withdraws the money from Paypal, they'll refund you and chase the seller themselves.

Whether they cover digital downloads is worth exploring, though.

I'd definitely give it 24 to 48 BUSINESS hours before going the dispute route. You bought today, so that shouldn't be a problem, but not everyone works on the weekends. So if you bought something on a Thursday or Friday and didn't hear back from the product owner over the weekend, I wouldn't freak out about it. Give it till Monday in those cases. A lot of WSO sellers are one-person operations who have families and need to separate business and family time, while handling everything on the WSO themselves.

Also, even if the seller was online, he or she may not have checked the WSO thread during that particular log-in, or simply had a box full of PMs to answer and was busy doing that. He or she could have missed your replies in their WSO thread, too, if there were a lot of comments there.

And it is possible you could have missed the download link when you purchased from PayPal. It's easy to do, unless the seller makes the link obvious, and not all of them do.

So give it 24 to 48 business hours, as there could be a lot of reasons you haven't heard from the person yet.

If it is software, I would expect it to be activated within 24 hours. If it is an information product then I would expect it to be delivered instantly, but would still think 24 hours falls within reasonableness.

Hope it gets sorted out soon for you.

If not, at least you used PayPal who can help you out to contact the seller.

But, like everyone else's advise, just give it a couple of days (or so) and see what happens.

Think - time zones. Seller may be halfway around the world and sleeping when you posted. Currently, it seems he is looking at that WSO so perhaps you'll have an answer.

When you are directed to paypal, usually there is a small "continue" link - and people often miss that link. Sometimes it says "return to Xxx" and takes you to the download page. Sometimes those links are easy to miss if you aren't looking for them. May not be the case here, but...

Patience usually works - I'm glad you did not jump immediately filing a paypal complaint. Not everything online happens instantly but, you're right, sometimes we expect it.

If you haven't already, go to your paypal acct. overview.
Click on View All Of My Transactions. Then, click on the
transaction details button you are concerned with.
Scroll to the bottom, and you should see a customer service
        e-mail
that you can contact them at.
Send an email to this acc't. and hopefully they will respond sooner.

Hope this helps and good luck,

I would give it 24 hours. There is probably a glitch somewhere and there is probably a time difference.
I know you want your product instantly and it can be annoying to wait but I am sure the seller is not doing a runner with your cash.
You could also try emailing the seller via paypal email adress.
