Ok, so I've had a bid already. What now?

I've got a domain name + website. Trouble is, it's in a sort of adult niche (soft) and I don't care much for it. I bought it for the EMD. I'd still write articles but I wouldn't want to waste much time on it.

I was thinking of selling it.

  • The EMD is for 30,000 searches per month.
  • Lots of other easy keywords with a lot of searches.
  • I've had it to 2/3 in Google with soft back linking. It would be easy to get to number 1.
  • I've had 10,000 visitors in one month.
  • EMD is a good one for a hungry market. Lots of potential.
  • It made no money before I took it offline. I was inexperienced and just bombarded it with links.

Maybe it's not even worth it to sell, so I was thinking - try and find a partner. 50/50 split. I write articles; they SEO. Hopefully they will have experience with conversions.

What do you think is the best idea?

    You've answered your own question:

You don't "like it" and don't want to spend too much time on it.

That being written, the clear choice for you is a JV.

Why? You'll still get income (hopefully) and you'll have somebody else invested in the success of the site as well.

In the end, you might have a situation where the site's generating some decent income and your partner may want to buy you out 100% -- which would relive you of a project that you don't especially enjoy. Or you can sell "your share" when the site has gotten more valuable.

Selling now might not be the best option because there could be more money for you down the road with this if you just hold your nose and hang in there a little while longer.

Lol you got it to number 2 but want to outsource SEO? Maybe the bit about bombarding it with links gives it away... you sandboxed it right?
Why else would you take it offline with 10k visitors a month.

It's not sandboxed. For the main keyword, I done a few manual backlinks, 200 forum linkwheels and 1 AMR blast.

I'm just trying to show that the keyword is easy to rank for. Like I say, I hate SEO so would rather not do it.

I done something stupid with conversions. I just added links everywhere to dvd's on Amazon. I was just starting out and had no idea. I ended up getting over 350 hops and no buys.

My Amazon account was important to my future so I just pulled the site, rather than go through taking out all the links. I didn't like it anyway.

I live at my parents just now. I'd rather not have them wondering why I have girl pics on my computer, LOL, which is why I'd rather sell or just write articles.

JV it to produce residual income.

Sell it to be done with it. Your choice.

The niche is not one I'd personally be in.

I'm not sure you'll find a JV for a soft core adult site. There are thousands of them waiting to be sold. unfortunately this is a niche which is not selling well and conventional SEO and article directories like EZA will not accept its link in the resource box. Probably you'll end up spending more time on sleazy sites for its SEO so I think its best you get rid of this site once and for all, especially when you don't like it.

    Yeah, I think your right.

BTW - you don't even see boobies, lol, so maybe soft core was the wrong word.

Yeah try the Flippa option. Just get it off your hands for some money and then get started on a business venture that will be worth doing.

OK, so I put my site up for sale on Flippa a few hours ago. It's a 30 day listing.

So far I've had 72 views and one bid of $500.

Trouble is, the guy who has bid has no previous successful bids and has 20 bids on 21 other sites.

Maybe he isn't a scammer, but I do think he is putting out lots of bids hoping to get a bite. I don't know if these 20 bids are current or they have been in the past and he only goes after 1 site at a time.

Anyway, since I hope to make a little more than $500, I accepted in the hope that it would spur others on.

Should I begin to be a bit more diligent with what offers I accept?

      What conditions do you use?

Do they have to have won something before? Do they need great feedback?

I specifically state I will only use Escrow so we don't get burnt, but I really want the sale to go through so must be careful.

      What do you think?
