how to list wordpress blog when forwarding?

Hi, the domain that my blog is hosted on reads domainname.com/wordpress. I am forwarding other domains to my blog and would like to know if when I fill in the domain forwarding information, should it just be the domain name of where to bog is, or should I spell out the wordpress section by listing the forwarding address as domainname.com/wordpress? domainname.com/worpress is the destination of the forwarding. I am hiding the redirects, so the person clicking on the domain name does not see that they have been forwarded to the new domain name with the wordpress blog.

So should the forwarded address be domainname.com
or
domainname.com/wordpress

Thanks for your help.
Ed

You should be forwarding the traffic to where you want the traffic to arrive.

It seems that you are doing something that might not sit well with Google.

Hi Richard, thanks for responding again, you are OK. Richard I am not very sharp at this and I had one more question based on your great response, but I don't think you came back to the post and would not have seen what I asked. I will check out the link you gave me which is really great, but what I was asking as I am really dense is if you were saying it should be domainname.com/wordpress? So Richard you are not going mad, at least not because of this, although internet marketing can do it to you in many ways and I thank you again, Ed.

Instead of keeping on asking, why not try it and see which gives you the result you want. It's the work of a few seconds!

Apparently no one knows the answer to this question, and it seems like a question that a number of WF members run up against, so when I find out the answer I will post it. In the meantime, if you do know the answer to this, please post it. Thanks Ed.

with respect - if you type mydomain.com and then mydomain.com/wordpress into the address bar of your browser, I think you should have no trouble in working out the answer for yourself.

Apparently I am not explaining this question properly, so I am going to drop it for today, but the issue for me is not what I see in my browser, it is what will happen if if go through the forwarding process where someone types in a different domain and it gets forwarded. Once again I thank all for their attempts to help me. Ed

so you're seriously saying that you can't tell which of those two is the one you want your visitors to be forwarded to???????

And you're also saying, despite the fact I told you to try both (several hours ago) and see which one gave you the result you wanted, that you haven't even tried it yet.

    I despair of some people!

I would forward it to mydomain.com. Seems simpler that way.

Unless you absolutely have to get people to your blog.

Depends if there is actually anything in the root of the domain.

OK, the mystery is solved, and the answer is:
    domainname.com/wordpress

I made the change and it works like a charm.

Thanks to everyone involved in this discussion, this is why I love the fourm and the people on it. I hope this answer helps some other people and once again, thanks to you all. Ed.
