Gravity figures don't relate to sales volumes.

It's very common for products with gravities around 5 to be consistently outselling products with three-figure gravities (I'm an affiliate of several, myself), and there are good and valid reasons for that. I believe that in countries in which the proportion of smokers is so high, the societal pressures to quit may be very much lower, anyway? So maybe they're not really the best markets?

Possibly, to the extent to which your assumptions are correct (and I think probably they are, to some extent, in spite of being only assumptions rather than conclusions), it may be because there are so many more "non-information products" about now, and they may effectively be competition for the "ClickBank-type products"? That's my suggestion, anyway.

Thank you Alexa, I guess I made a bit haste assumptions indeed. You see, I quit myself few months ago so neither now nor back then when I was a smoker I didn't consider electronic cigarettes a way to quit so I just havn't realized they're a giant market segment I could use for my good.

And everything else you said - I 100% agree. Thank you for these tips, you really put me back on the right track

I used ecigs to help me quit 3 years ago, they worked and I made a fair bit of money selling them through amazon back then, but the laws in the UK and US were that we can't claim them to be quit smoking aids. My sites were under threat of take down if I didn't stop claiming them as quit smoking aids. That knocked sales.

Sales were good to start with on Amazon, but after a while the prices dropped a lot and earnings started to drop with them, then most of the ecigs were taken off Amazon and zilch sales there.

There are other companies to affiliate to. I'm with e-lites who are on CJ for the US and Impact Radius for the UK. I do better for sales in the UK, but they aren't as good as they were 3 years ago. I haven't seen any in shops over here, but I've seen them advertised in magazines for much less than most of the ecig affiliate companies sell them for.

Most of those that I know who are trying to stop smoking at the moment are using Champix, it seems easier to get hold of than ecigs.

Correction. Today I saw them in a newsagents in town for the first time, e-lites too.

Yeah gravity doesn't tell you the whole story. It could just mean not many affiliates are promoting the product, and thus fewer unique affiliates are generating sales.

Over here in the UK it's actually become easier to quit smoking ever since they introduced the indoor smoking ban a few years ago.

Just in the first year after the ban, almost half a million quit the cigarette.

There are now very effective products like Chantex (sp?) available that are advertised quite heavily. Maybe that might account for some of the decline of this market. Just a thought.

That's important - actual smoking cessation aids need to be FDA approved before they can be sold to consumers, and the business opportunities for the typical marketer are severely limited.

Don't need to be in a urban area to see anyone smoking. Smoking is still one of the biggest trades in world. The governments aint going to stop it anytime soon.

I think that's the crux of the matter - you can buy e-Cigs at many convenience stores now - no doctors appointment, no education needed. just swing by the 7-11 and pick up an e-Cig - no more hassle than picking up a pack of cigarettes.

Who needs an eBook to learn about e-Cigs?

  They aren't - they are a way to keep the habit in a way that doesn't make everyone else around you angry about the smoke.
  
  If you do some research you'll find the "quit smoking" rush has ended. The number of smokers (in the US) has leveled off. There will be some activity in the stop smoking niche - but I think the days of big ebook sales, etc, are over.
  
  You can buy all sorts of nicotine replacement products - e-cigs are cheaper than cigs and widely available. Become an affiliate of one or more e-cigs and switch over to promoting that product instead of CB...using the same site.

Hmmm - I was a quitline coach 5 years ago. Maybe it's time to launch my own coaching program for quitting - people seem to want personalized, one-on-one coaching for everything else.

  I see direct mail in the newspapers and there is a stand in the middle of our local shopping mall selling them.
  
  Definitely worth a try unless you know of a quicker or easier way to kick the habit or a healthier, cheaper way to get your kick?
  
  EDIT: Speaking to a teacher at a local school she said the kids don't smoke anymore. Speaking to a kid they said loads of their friends still smoke. Smoking isn't ever going to die out.

Every supermarket, corner shop, market are selling the things.

If I had the the time I would start a review site on Ecigs.

The problem with the niche is that many smokers may want to quit, but enjoy the act and "benefits" (if you call it that) of smoking. While I managed to quit cold-turkey, many others at my work followed suit but by using e-cigs to progress back. One of them simply just keeps using the e-cigs as he enjoyed the act, just wanted to lose the tar and feel better.

And like Alexa said, ignore gravity. High gravity doesn't make for a good product every time, if at all. I am currently researching a niche where the prominent product is a .87 gravity. To be fair, there are a lot of other angles to take with that niche if the sales don't happen, but I see a pretty open opportunity with it.

Another avenue to investigate is the ability to use e-cigs in public places where smoking is banned. I recently had a friend tell me that a lot of people are doing it.

He buys them all the time, with his cigarettes.:confused:

Yep. One, now retired, co-worker plays keyboard for local blues bands and keeps his around for his gig's. He says it makes a great talking point between sets.

People who wanted to quit probably quit within the last 5-10 years. Smoking in High Schoolers has been on the decline for years so you're left with either a) Less "customers b) People that have quit trying to quit.

The rest are smoking e-cigs. They are all over now.

I am a smoker. I don't need no darned ebook to tell me that I need to quit or to tell me how to quit.

I have used nicotine-replacement gum several times.

About one month ago, I got an e-cigarette. Now I simply have to remember to inhale from the ecig instead of the cigarette, and I might successfully quit this time.
