Is it to write an eBook/product, have a landing page for it, then drive traffic to the page to try get sales?

Is it to create a blog/CMS and use AdSense?

Speaking from personal experience I know that creating a blog and using adsense is not for people who are in it just for the money so I wouldn't recommend it as your top choice.

  • There are many different ways to to make money online. Your task is to chose one model and then try to work on it until you are getting some good results.

My advice would be to make to decisions.
    1) How are you going to make money? I.e. Amazon sites, Clickbank produts, CPA, Your own product.

2)How are you going to drive traffic to your offer? PPC, SEO, Article Marketing etc.

My main choices are Amazon and SEO, but you need to decide which model you want to copy.

Can you suggest me some models? I'm willing to commit endless hours to the cause. I know I can get excellent traffic to the site, I just need to be able to convert that traffic into sales/cash. Suggestions?

I'd create your own products. It's just the best business model out there in my opinion. You are the boss, it's passive income (once the product is created), and affiliates do all the work for you.

But you have to know what you like. I mean if you love writing articles or doing SEO than you should probably do that. Just do something you like, otherwise you probably won't do it.

    Hope that helps.

Whatever you decide to do at the beginning, pick one and stick with it.

Too many get distracted and end up not giving one method their best shot before moving on to the next sparkly thing.

And be prepared for it not to 'happen' overnight.

      All the best

So I can create a product, sign up for an affiliate network, get people to sell it for me and I take some profit? Essentially passing the hard work off onto someone else?

I agree with Alen, creating your own products is the way ahead because it allows you to build a list with other people promoting your stuff.

Adsense is about the lowest form of monetising traffic you can get - you'll get cents from it not hundreds or thousands of dollars... and you need to be getting a lot of traffic already.

Traffic and other people's lists that you can leverage are already out there. You just need to give people a reason to send that traffic to you.

Realistically you are going to have to create a product as a give away anyway to get subscribers and

    Hey Harvey,

I'd say from personal experience that having your own product, having a landing page and building your list is the best way to go. Adsense is good but you're never 100% in control. Google can change the CPC or drop your site in the rankings at any time, without warning.

With your own product and a good list you can protect yourself from external factors like this as you control the price and you can control your own traffic to a degree.

One tip I would recommend when building your list is to make the incentive for joining something related to buying. For example, a lot of people recommend giving a free report as the incentive for joining the list and then upselling them to a paid product once they sign up. However, I personally offer a discount when people join my list and have had great results. I find this way most of the people who join your list are looking to buy as the incentive is directly linked to buying your product.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom

      Great information.

I'm thinking about going into a very specific niche, the 'improve your vertical jump as an athlete' niche. I know my competitors and it's something I'm passionate about. I don't want to sell jump programs like everyone else, I want to sell jump science. Actual tested information about the physiology of jumping and that's what separates me from my competition.

I can use YouTube as a definite way of generating traffic. I don't know if this will be very successful if I was looking to get affiliates to generate sales for me. It's a very, er, specific niche.

I can offer a discount on the final price of the product if the viewer signs up to my email list or perhaps I could give them something else? Like a taste of what the product will be like?

      What do you think?

Sounds like you already know what you want. so go do it! What is the worse that can happen? Nothing sells and you lost some time. But I bet you'll learn more by doing it than you ever will asking questions. And it seems you really are passionate on the subject matter. A huge advantage. Go for it!

        Hey Harvey,

Sounds like a good niche. A taster of the product sounds like a good incentive combined with a discount yeah.

Since it's a very specific niche, article marketing might also work well as there's probably not too much competition so getting ranked won't be as difficult as other niches.

Sounds good mate. What's the best way to do article marketing? Do I host the articles on my site and generate traffic to them? Or do I want the articles elsewhere linking back to the page/squeeze?

    Many people follow this formula:

    1) Pick your niche. Evergreen products like health, wealth, diet etc.
    2) Create a ebook about your niche.
    3) Make a squeeze page and give your ebook away to those who sign up to be on your list.
    4) Sell an affiliate product or if you can create your own product.
    5) Learn to drive traffic to your site.

The most important part of this is to build your list. You will hear this repeated time after time here in the WF.

Get the product laid out in a plan, think of it like a book with chapters. Layout clearly what you want to say. Decide how you will say it. Video, MP3, PDF...Then learn how to set up a sales funnel. Create a sales page or squeeze page. Think about how you will deliver the product. What payment method. And how you will handle questions and support. But focus on finishing the product first. Completely. Then go to the next step, research, learn, implement and move on. Hope this helps somewhat.

I want the articles elsewhere linking back to the page/squeeze? Yes.

Start with ezinearticles.com. Once you see how it works, there are hundreds if not thousands just like it.

      I agree with StreetBacon.

Link the articles to your squeeze page with something like "Harvey is an expert at improving your vertical jump. Visit his vertical jump website to get an exclusive discount on his ebook."

Ezine Articles are the biggest and the best. Once you get used to how they work start submitting to other directories and consider an article submission service. I've always found Submit Your Article to be good although they are a little pricey.

      Hope this helps,

      Tom

I've been searching to make an online income for a few years now. Finally all my hard work has paid off. I've be blessed to have found a mentor who has referred me to two incredible income opportunities online. Now, the cool thing about BOTH of these is that once you set these up, they are passive and residual. You do not have to do a thing, except check your account each day and see how much money you've made. Sound too good to be true? Oh well, I really don't care, because I'm making money every single day.

There are a lot of ways to make money online, and if you're like myself, you've spent money on things that take a lot of time, effort, research, knowledge - and that's all great. I understand, really great things take time and believe me, I'm a very hard worker. But, I'm sure you're like me, and you simply want a solid passive income stream, that can free you up from the 9-5 and allow you to live comfortably so that you can spend your time investing in either your entrepreneurial endeavors, just have a little more time to yourself to do whatever, or actually have the time and resources to try some of the other ways to generate income people mention here on the forum.

If you're interested in these 2 programs, I'll gladly share what I know about each one. As of posting this, I don't quite have enough posts to PM back, so if you want more info, please PM me your email address and I will send it to you.

Wishing you the best in 2012

    There's no BEST way around.

Here's my SIMPLE, yet effective little plan:

    1. Have a good PLR product or better yet make one yourself

    2. Have a good, quality squeeze page offering that product FREE of charge.

    3. Have an Aweber account to collect emails.

    4. Send traffic to your squeeze page using different FREE and Paid sources.(Google for that)

    5. Build your list.

    6. BOMB them with VALUABLE e-mails first days.

    7. Make a product and E-mail them about your product launch.

    8. Make MONEY.

    9. Repeat the above steps.

    Good luck!

I don't think anyone can really say which is the "best way" to make money online -- it really depends on how much effort you put into it. It seems to me that the commonly preferred means of making money are CPA marketing, becoming an affiliate or creating your own product. But you'll obviously find that people have varying degrees of success, no matter which method you choose

If it's the most popular method, then that's affiliate marketing, and this is the route I'd always advise newbies. I’d say start with affiliate marketing but keep in mind that the real money is made with your own products. Don't let the stiff competition in affiliate marketing scare you away. There are some strategies you can use to effectively find your feet in this.
    1. Choose a good product to promote
Do not make the common mistake of selling the popular products everyone else is selling. Do a simple research first to know if the product is in demand in the market. Also, make sure that the product you'll choose is of good quality.
    2. Do some pre-selling
Most affiliates conduct pre-selling to qualify the leads they will be referring to the merchant's page. This will increase conversion rates because only interested individuals will see the sales page. One thing you can do here is to buy the product you are promoting, and write an honest review about it.
    3. Be capable enough of driving traffic to the merchant's sales page
This is basically the most difficult task you’ll face. In doing this, you should decide first how you will attract traffic towards your affiliate website. You can go for paid advertising or you can spend time creating authority sites that are content rich and with affiliate advertising placed within them. It is good if you can use both strategies.
The nature of the traffic you drive to your affiliate site also matters. You should be able to send highly-targeted traffic, or else, your conversion rates will not be sufficient to cover the cost of advertising.

When you find your feet wet, you should then move up higher the food chain, and start recruiting affiliates for your own products.
