Ordering Article Writing On Fiverr? A Waste Of Time/Money?

Ok warriors,

So im trying to get articles wrote for my first micro niche website however ive ordered articles of two different sellers and after the first hour of purchase...

1) Seller said to be that his mother is ill and he can complete the article but at a later date.

2) The other seller said that he has been in a car crash and it would complete the article at a later date.

Is this some sort of joke? Is this a new method for article sellers to get extra time to complete an article? Or is is just bad luck for me?

The Fiverr model doesn't really provide for serious contracting. Try a different one: vWorker, Elance, oDesk, etc.

    Experiences there vary, doubtless.

But wherever you source them, it's never going to be trivially easy reliably to find readable articles you'd be proud to have on a niche website for $5 each. I can easily recommend about 20 good article-writers right here, but nobody who'll work for $5.

I'm not criticising at all - I'm just saying "don't expect this to be too easy", because that's a real bargain-basement price. (And the articles may need to be checked over or even edited quite a bit, too, if/when you find some.)

I was thinking the same thing. Just researching the topic would take hours unless you went directly to an expert. How many true experts would give you an hour of their time for just $5?

I love it! Yes, I have had good and bad. But mostly good to even great results. Look for gigs with a lot of positive ratings so you know there won't be any hassles. Here is a blog post with some actual gigs I have ordered that I felt did a great job, including writers.

I suppose you have to decide if you want to build a business on cheap articles.

I wrote a few 300 word articles on Fiverr. I basically just strung coherent sentences together. Didn't get any complaints though.

If you think you'll get quality work then you're insane.

I would have to agree with Jason. There are some really talent writers on Fiver, just browse through the comments with writers with positive ratings. You will find one.

You also have to decide if you want to try and build a long-term relationship with a writer. As Fluffy said, a good writer will not stay on Fiverr for long. Why should they when they can make a lot more money almost anywhere else? So you'll constantly be looking for new writers. There's nothing wrong with that but it can be time consuming.

It also matters if you're trying to find a writer to use consistently for one blog so there's a specific style and voice.

There are many good writers in the Warriors for Hire section of the forum that will stick with you long-term.

You could always use a site like iWriter

A basic level 500 word article is $3 and you get to review it before paying for it.

Quality at that level varies considerably and depending on where you're submitting to you may have to be an editor but certainly worth looking at.

I've never used iWriter. That sounds good. How many times can you reject an article though, it doesn't seem to mention this in the Q&A section?

How much does a 500 word article usually cost if you select only top writers?

I DON"T use Fiverr for article writing, its a bit hit and miss.

iWriter.com costs $3 per article and if you choose your writer the article costs $5.

The tactic is to start off submitting your job to the pool of writers for $3 and wait for jobs to come back. Review the article and if its not up to scratch have it written again. You only pay $3 when you except the job.

There is a section to save your favorite writers for your future jobs and when you request your write the article will cost $5.

Get your list of favorite writers and when you pay your $5 you know it doesn't need much in the way of editing. The extra $2 is worth it.

          -----------------------

TextBrokers.com is another site I've had some good article written, it appeared they where all USA based authors. They cost $5 for approx 500 words.

          -----------------------

Set it up for success, give the write as much help as possible, website for the competition or amazon pages for the product so they can read the reviews and 1 keyword per article. I personally found that if I gave them more keywords I had to do more editing to get the keyword count up.

2% keyword density - I worded as 2 keywords per 100 words in the article.

You are not likely to find good quality articles on Fiverr because the writer does not profit $5. After $1 goes to fiverr and around 5 cents goes to PayPal, the writer is only making around $3.95 per article. You're not likely to get a good quality 400+ word article for that price. If you do, then you have found a good supplier.

Actually you should know what to expect for 5$. It probably won't be as good although in many cases the article will be if not good at least decent. So if you want something really good don't limit yourself to only 5$.

There are some good article writers everywhere.

I assume the guys you ordered from are sellers else where and probably they are not giving you priority for $5 as much as someone else who will be paying $10 somewhere else.

I hired a programmer, who used at some point to make all type of excuses (his rate with me was low as he had no much work at the time) once work start coming he got contracts for much higher hourly rate than mine, once he start getting more project, he gave me all type of excuses (for months) why he can't work now and kept me waiting. I ended fire him.

Good Article writers rate are getting higher, and even those who start on fiverr may at some point move to other websites (either their own or big places like elance, where they can determine $$$ that they want to get for a job) specially if they proved that they are professional enough to their customers.

There are some professional writers here in warrior forum ( I hired one before and done a wonderful job for press release). If I ever published a PR again, I certainly will hire the same writer again.

one main thing about fiverr is that it is full of scammers. You see 100% positive feedback but most of them have created other accounts and given themselves feedbacks.

I have had some bad experiences with fiverr article ordering. They were really choppy that it seems like they have used a free spinner or something. (I ordered from a top seller with 100% positive).

My advice is that there are so many good article writers you can find on here for a decent price. Just take a look at warriors for hire or warrior classifieds section.

Many people take fiverr seriously because they are using the site to break into writing. Believe it or not many people write for others for less than $3.95. With fiverr writers can gain a reputation, find a good writer and stick with them. Just be aware that they may go up in prices once they become established.

The output that you get from any article writer will be consistent with the skills that the writer possesses.

Most "writers" -- and I use that term loosely -- on Fiverr are looking to take advantage of the idiots who think good articles can be written for a few dollars.

It is occasionally possible to get a good writer on Fiverr, but only when the writer has talent, but has yet to understand the value that they give to others.

If you can catch one of those people with real talent, who lack the confidence to charge what their work is worth to people, then you can get a good writer on Fiverr.

But eventually, the cream of the crop will realize what their product is worth to people, and they will be expected to be paid accordingly.

If I were to find a quality writer on Fiverr, I would try to convince them to work for me exclusively, and I would pay them $10 an article to ensure that I was at the top of their schedule at all times.

Then as their confidence grows, as it always will, I will pay them what I need to pay them to keep them on my payroll.

I have gotten lucky this way before, and I am sure I will again... But truth be told, I don't shop in Fiverr to find writers.

Surprise, surprise. Family tragedy is something even I encounter a lot on Fiverr, but it all seems bogus to me. The worst part is that even "express gigs" have these issues.

However, there are some great writers over there, you just have to find them. Sort by keyword and popularity, and if someone has more than 50-60 positive review, hire them! Also, I always order BELOW 2-3 days completion time, as I don't want to waste my time waiting for an article.

If I were you, I wouldn't give up on Fiverr, because it's cheap and once you manage to find someone really good, you have a winner. But you could definitely try other options mentioned above.

I had something similar happen on Ebay a few different times when winning an auction super cheap (like 50% of what it's "worth".)

#1 Somebody broke into my house and stole your item so I'm sorry I have to refund.

It happens to me all the time. I just give them 24 hours, and it they're not able to send it in that time, I send the work to another writer. I'm not sure if they're doing this to get a pay rise. I mean, why would they do that when they know my prices are fixed? There are a lot of lazy people out there though; time wasters who get work and never complete it. I can never understand their mindset, but unfortunately, that's a fact.

It was decent content but after getting 40 orders in a short amount of time i realized I was working too much for too little pay.

Fiverr is a great resource to use If you have some writing skills yourself but do not want to write all the time. For $5, you will get the written word but do not rely of the quality on the written word. Most (if not all) good writers on Fiverr only work there to build a client base and increase their rates as soon as they have done that.
As for your "misfortunes" it can be true. I once worked with a client, a member of whose family died every time she was scheduled to pay me. Incidentally she did pay me eventually so I do not think she was lying .

Well, a couple people here pimping the fantastic quality of work available on fiverr. Let's have one of these or three:

I would prefer the traditional ROFLMAO bouncy smilie thingy, but I can only work with what the forum gods bestow upon me through the reply to thread screen.

From the link in post #7, we have this delightful gem:

full time staff the you outsource

the you, huh? What the hell does that mean?

And, from the link in post #9, we get this articulate piece o' prose:

            Are articles are SEO friendly

Hmmm ... Are you trying to ask a question or did you forget that ARE does not equal OUR?

Ummm ... yea. You get what you pay for on fiverr. Pay bananas and get monkeys to work for ya. Or at least people who won't proofread the diarrhea of the fingertips they pump out.

Classic. I couldn't have scripted a better setup. "Yea, fiverr is GREAT!!! Take a look at this fine stuff if you don't believe me."

Sorry, not sold. I don't believe you. The proof is in the pudding.

All you writers out there bookmark this thread so you can easily find it next week or next month when the next 'Is fiverr okay to get writing from' thread pops up.

To be fair you are going to struggle to get a quality article for $5. You might get a unique article. You might get a bunch if sentences strung together that make sense. You might get an article that passes the Copyscape uniqueness test.

But will you get a quality article for $5? In my opinion, you'd be better off putting that Fiver(r) on 0 on the roulette table - you'd get a better return on investment.

On Fiverr and on outsourcing sites, you have to read their feedback, their reviews or perhaps request for a test paragraph, just to be sure their English is good. I have used vworker with very good results. I used Fiverr to ebook covers and got a real good deal with one designer.

Why put cheap, low quality work on your own website? People will read it and think "this is a cheap, low quality website".

Would it hurt so much to pay someone $12 for an article instead of $5? And then, when you see that the quality is good, pay $14, $16 and more.
Building your site around good quality content should more than pay for the slight pricing differential on content procurement. Just think about what Google is doing to reduce the visibility of cheap, low quality content. Why pay for something that's an instant target for Google bots. It doesn't make any sense. You're buying the content to try and attract more visitors and at the same time you're saying to the organization who can deliver those visitors, "look at me, I have a site full of cheap, low quality content".
So to answer your question, it isn't bad luck that your $5 article writers have gone AWOL, it's good luck. Get your money back and head on over to the 'for hire' section on WF, or Elance.

Of course, it would. You don't seem (or don't want to, which is totally respectable if you are a writer yourself, providing a writing service here in WF) to understand the fact that there are people here who can't really afford paying $12 for a single article (!!!), when they pay $7.99 to host their multiple sites in Hostgator.

In my opinion, quality doesn't have a linear relation with price, although price may be crucial in some cases. I've paid $12 for articles that didn't worth more than others for which I paide $3.5 in iwriter.com

So, in conclusion I'd suggest to anyone go in iwriter.com order a number of articles, approve the ones that he likes and disapprove those that don't match his needs and when he finds a good writer stick with him. That's what I'm doing and I can ensure you that my sites are full of good quality content

I respect your opinion. I do understand the financial constraints that people are under, but to take the example of the OP, this person ordered multiple $5 articles. I would personally have preferred to order fewer articles but pay a little more for each.
And yes, I agree that a higher price doesn't always result in better quality. But there are many very competent writers in the $15-$20 / 800 word region, yet far fewer in the $4 range. (remembering that Fiverr only pays $4 for each gig).

On your other point, I'm not an article writer nor am I looking for any work. But I do pay for content frequently so I'm trying to pass along a bit of the reasoning that I use when finding writers for various niches. I have many articles which I've bought and paid for but never published to my site, because of various factors including quality. Almost all of the unused stuff is where I've tried to pinch a few pennies and ended up with something that just doesn't quite make the grade.

I agree completely, 12$ per 500 words and I have good writers asking me for jobs. I usually pay a little more, but I don't understand why people screw around? The point of hiring is to get work done, it you can't get it done consistently then you're wasting time.

Seriously, if you know what you're doing then 3$ per 100 words is still insanely cheap. I have a few people who have basically told me (at that rate) that they will write anything for me, and they're great writers.

You basically have 3 kinds of people selling writing gigs on Fiverr-

    1) People who are horrible writers.

    2) People who can write well but don't know how to market their services.

    3) People who are just trying to get a foot in the door, then upsell to bigger and better services.

Weeding through the bad ones can be tough though, so I recommend a different site (like elance.com or odesk)

I'm sure that there are good writers on fiverr, but if you are having trouble finding one, why don't you check the warriors for hire section here on the forum. There are some very good writers who's prices are comparable to the people on fiverr. It's much easier to stay in contact with them too.

    Hi,
It can be both true and also a way of having the clients have the time extended to finish up the work. One thing you need to do is go through the profiles of each client, it will give you a clue of who they are and how their previous works have been. With a lot of negative ratings, you will get a hint that the person is not a qualified and reliable client. On the other hand, when the profile has positives that outdo negatives, then know that what they are telling you is absolutely true. Online clients and working has its sevral challenges too.

I mean, the quality of work needed isn't always top notch. There are various strategies where all you'd really need is legible chicken scratch and that content has served it's purpose. Not saying I necessarily condone this practice but lets face it, people out there do these things.

If you want the good stuff you need to pay for it, plain and simple & there are quite a number of sources that specialize in this field and they take care of the weeding-out process for you by testing and rating their content producers. Their services just come at a pretty penny, or nickel in many cases.

Just because someone is on Fiverr does not mean their work sucks. You can very well find a great writer on here but most likely they are not charging $5 instead their artilces will be $20 +

    Good investment?

It depends, you really need to work your articles besides plopping them up on your website is 1/3 the battle but there is a good bit of work that needs to go into it after for it to drive traffic to your site.

Highest quality content and then backing it up is now the name of the game, yes it costs money or time but it pays off in the long run.

The original post you are replying to is over 3 years old. Either the issue has been resolved or the person has quit.

Either way, spamming cloaked affiliate links and adding null content one-liners for sig exposure isn't helping things.

If you want great professional article writing service delivered at the stated time-frame, you should be able to part with 50$ at the least but with fiverr you have to work with what you get. It's tough to get a good writer on fiverr but there are many great writers on fiverr for sure.

I use iwriter for these needs recently.

You can basically price your article at whatever you want. However, the lower you go the higher the likelihood the article will be spun or terrible.

Try to stay in at least the $5 range and advertise you want a writer that has at minimum 4.5 stars.

    Really great service.

I've used both Iwriter and Fiverr. I wouldn't bother with either one again. There may be good writers on fiverr but you have to slog through a mess of poorly worded articles, spun articles and outright plagiarized articles to find a few decent writers. Not worth the effort.

One if the biggest problems today is a lack of loyalty and relationship building with artist and content creators in business. sometimes when your paying an expert often you are also paying for his contacts and reputation that comes with it. so what this means is say the artist or content creator goes out of commission he can often pass on the work to one of his buddies to do the work for him weather you know it or not. When you approach fiver or a flyby night content creator they often have no real risk to loosing you in the process other then a quick buck. another words you get what you pay for. I have been doing content creation for over 20 years I can tell you from experience the cheaper you go the harder it is to find good qualified people. Sometimes the relationship or business arrangement has to be mutual. not just the golden rule. IE whoever has the gold rules.

You are going to find some great writers on Fiverr. You will also find some terrible writers/writers who can't even speak the language they are promising you they will write in. You should search for article writing on Fiverr and then filter your search to only sellers with high feedback and a good reputation on the site.

    Cheers,

Not all fiverr sellers are lousy, there are some good ones.

You need to do some due diligence before placing your orders (ie: check their fiverr ratings and customer reviews)

Normally I order from level 2 or top rated sellers.

    No problems so far.

You will get quality article writers but quality will depend with the amount of cash that you are ready to part with. I advice you to post it on the premium level and you shall not be disappointed. thank you and all the best.
