Where do you get your Niche Ideas?

When it comes to the very first step in niche marketing.....where do you get your ideas?

How do you conduct your research to find out if the idea is something that will pan out?

Can anyone out there walk me through the process of finding a profitable niche to dive into? I just can't seem to grasp this point. I think if someone were to walk me through the first steps of it all I (and so many other noobs) would be more than thankful a million times over. So what do you say fellow warriors? Anyone willing to walk me through the steps real quick to find a profitable niche? Doesn't even have to be one that's all that profitable...just something that makes more than peanuts to show us the process....

    Hi Simple,

I'm no expert, so hopefully others will chime in here. However, I'll share what I've learned so far.

It depends what you want to do, really, but if it's creating products, have a look through the CB and PDC marketplace and see what is and isn't selling (CB has gravity, I think PDC has some kind of ranking as well).

Of course, the WAY you market something is very important too - you can have a great product/idea but have to speak to your market the right way to have it do well.

Sometimes the only way to know for sure if something will work or not is to work your ass off and see if it pans out... and if not, do it all over again.

Hell, Even John Reese has had failed ventures. And if HE gets it wrong from time to time, we'll also probably do the same thing. Except for Paul Myers. He's pretty much God.

Even if you get into a profitable niche, you might not be able to make money from it. There's so many other factors... but as a starting point I would say pick something that lots of other people are making money in.

  • This is what I do:

I wait till the weekend and go to EZA - I then look at all the articles on the front page. I look for the ones in obscure niches I have never heard of.

I then open the google adword tool in one window and google search in another window and plug the keyword in to see what the competition and search ration looks like.

You would be amazed at the niches you can find on a Saturday using this method. I find niches I had never heard of all the time! Then I find that there is a lot of traffic for some of those keywords.

The niche is in the title. The keyword is usually the anchor text.

    Hope that helps.
