No, I didn't make the $40,000.

But someone else did.

I won't link to it directly but right now the top Gig in Popularity on Fiverr says that it has sold over 10,600+ gigs, and it has about 6,700 positive ratings.

If I understand correctly, Fiverr pays the seller $4 out of every $5 payment made by buyers.

That's over $40,000 from selling a $5 service!!! Crazy.

Even better, the $5 service being sold is simply putting up some links in forum profiles - something that could surely be outsourced for an incredibly low price.

Impressive. Fiverr seems to be at its peak... a lot of people use it, and I don't know where it could really go from here. Maybe more expensive gigs? I don't know - I think the idea of Fiverr is good, will stick around, but may as months go by stay steady or slightly decline. Only time will tell!

They introduced tiered selling points, which allow you to put addons onto a gig for more money. I think they realized they can attract more sellers and buyers by allowing more people to have addon gigs. I know for me personally, it didn't translate to more sales, because people want something for almost nothing.

Yeah, I have seen a few people on fiverr making that much money (based on how many gigs they have delivered). Of course that could be over a period of long time, but non the less, it is a way to make good money, especially if your gig is the kind of gig that you can finish and deliver in just a few minutes.

The funny thing is that many of these top sellers are making money offering services that you and I may laugh at and not understand why would anyone wanna pay for it. It just goes to show with a little creativity and willingness you can make it work for you.

Yeah true that. Most of the marketing-related fiverr gigs are either scams or just low quality work.

When your orders are more than $5 it's easier to make money faster & accumulate serious clients, not one's that spend $5 here & there on a gig.

Not hating on the guy that made 40k off Fiverr, I just don't think it's worth it to offer a service for $5 these days. I mean what can you do for $5? Buy a drink and a burger?

      Think big or go home.
I agree. But for some people (ie young college-age kids), making $5 for only a few minutes of work would be a great way to earn some cash.

Well.. To be exact it's actually $4 instead of $5.. Depends on how much time and effort this guy put into creating a gig.. if he's using software or any other kind of leverage I should say it's brilliant to earn $40,000.. on the other hand.. if he's working day and night just to produce gig then I would ask him to go home and think big instead

A mere $4 may not seem a lot especially to working adults .. but for a college student, it may be.. like what you said: "Drink and burger" perhaps, that's exactly what they need..:p

As long as people provide the gigs, I'm happy. Some of them are really high quality. I've used it for professional voiceovers and for custom music tracks - it's been great.

The clever sellers upsell by carefully limiting the first delivery. I had to pay an extra gig for extended time on one gig, but it was well worth it. $5 as an opener is a good start.

If you can make the process semi-automatic and reduce the manual time required per gig, then $4 for a couple of minutes is pretty good if you can jack up the volume.

I honestly think that the 5 dollar number is a perfect price, its between cheap but it also adds up quickly depending on how many sales you can get in a day, and the amount of work you are doing. Overall, I am glad to see Fiverr doing well, it`s a great idea and like they said earlier time will tell with this site! I wish it luck! I mean their costumer service support and everything are great as well, and their reputation is great! They are going far for sure!

That is certainly an incredible result. Another reason why people shouldn't underestimate the income earning potential of Fiverr -- $5 doesn't seem like much by itself but it really can add up. If you're selling a product/service that is in high demand and you have a method that helps you fulfill orders quickly, it's a smart way to earn online.

If you had enough gigs that didn't require hands on work (like I'll give you x info for $5) then it's certainly possible. I love Fiverr from an outsourcing perspective. I now use it almost exclusively for voice over talent. $5 for 1:00 to 2:00 radio quality v/o spots is just unbeatable. And there's tons of gigs for setting up websites for you, etc.

    • I know this seller. I know what he does. Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time there was a brand-new place where people could have small tasks done for $5. As it grew in popularity, one marketer reasoned that the pay might be small but if you sell people what they desperately want, the potential could be huge.

So he put up a service: "I will personally guarantee tomorrow will be a sunny day for you, no matter where you are in the world, for $5." He explained he was a weather manipulation expert, highly regarded in his field, had a wall full of diplomas and absolutely could deliver the desired result. Then he created second and third accounts and bought a bunch of his own services. He amended the description to say, "Look at all my happy repeat customers! They're out sunbathing, working on their tan, flirting with beautiful women and sipping margaritas while you get rained on!"

      And the orders poured in.

Now, I know what you're going to say. No one can manipulate the weather and cause a sunny day when it would normally rain. And you'd be right. But this marketer (we'll call him Harry) figured the odds were in his favor. If a customer got a sunny day, he'd be back to buy a lot more. If a customer bought his service and got rain, he'd mock them publicly in feedback and blame the failure on them. This would discourage other customers from complaining about receiving rainy days. If the purchased day was merely overcast, Harry would point out they just don't understand what sunny is. Clearly it's the absence of rain, not the presence of sun.

Like snake oil salesmen in the Old West with their phony medical degrees, Harry's racket depends on belief. If you fervently believe, all is well. And you might join with Harry in castigating the non-believers. (See Robert Cialdini's landmark book _Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion_.)

So is Harry brilliant or what? No, he's a two-bit huckster, a charlatan, grifter, a pious fraud. If his story inspires you to do the modern day equivalent of buying a covered wagon and hawking bitters as a cure-all tonic, well, that tells us something about your character, too.

Fiverr is a must have to outsource your work if you know how to. For example if you you outsource the backlink process in the wrong way, I am sure you will end up by your website look as spamming the search engines

This is why I use only one Seller for my outsourcing work and sometimes she did a different work even she's not mentioned in her gigs. I just contact her and ask her if she ca do it.

When the seller get high reputation he/she receives massive orders and getting high incomes as a result.

I totally agree with one here that said "fiverr isn't the place for you cos doing all the headache for a measly $4 (minus paypal commission) just isn't worth it! "

Fiverr is the best place for people if they have trouble making money online.

"I will create 10 Edu backlinks for $5"

He says in his message 11600+ Sales only shows 4 IN QUEUE You would think there would be tons in the QUEUE.

    254 bad reviews thumbs down
    6612 thumbs up

    96% over all rating

I don't think you can tell on the outside if 11,000 gigs have been done and everyone does not leave feedback.

I'm well over 500 have 100% and show less than 200... so it sounds that 11,000 could have been done.

If you look at the bad reviews you can see that smart people did a follow up to the links and posted they are dead after so long... and other bad things.

The Noobs don't know any better they got a confirm link that they have been added that is good to them... they don't know better.

Just wonder the truth as to how good the links are and do they really last... for 5 bucks toss the crap on the wall some will stick but for how long. The noob sees a smear and think they got what they paid for... but in reality the crap hit the floor.

Well we don't know for real if over 11,000 has been done... we can only see the reviews and everyone don't leave reviews...

As of this post 6866 have left a review

        6866 x 4.00 = 27464.00

This is real as it gets unless you can get inside the account and look for yourself.

It looks like he is given 10 edu backlinks which can be done in seconds.

10 links is not very many to do at all.

Why are people ordering this gig for only 10 edu links when you can get 100 -250 - 300 - 600 - and even more... for 5 bucks with other gigs ????

The 11600 could come from the same thing as a 6.5 guy can say he is 6.8
You would not question it because he is tall...

He has almost 7000 in the public eye so he can bump that up to 11,000 with out real question... 7,000 or 11,000 it's still a lot either way.

I tried to use other gig systems also (~10), but there is no point. All use fiverr.com I guess.

So far I have made over $450 with just one gig. Think I need to add a few more gigs to achieve that sort of money.

And now since Fiverr recently introduced the different levels a comfortable and full-time income is definitely doable.

However, I like creating gigs that don't require that much time, for instance an ebook. You spend the time to write it once and when someone orders, you simply attach, thank them for the order, and send.

Gigs like the video recordings and drawings are great, but if you're going to make lots of money that isn't really cost-effective. Because you can only create so many drawings a day, etc.

The top seller must need a vacation. That will be huge orders and the next will come again.

Fiverr is a great site to be a part of.

Not only great traffic, but the people on there don't expect too much for their five bucks. Seriously, I bet the guy slaps a URL into his software and submits to a few forums etc., and although it's a simple process to us, it's like magic for his customers. They'll pay the money without giving it much thought at all.

Five dollars for anything is a good deal. I bought a few gigs from there that didn't really pan out and truthfully, I didn't even care.

The real trick is to automate it all whereas you're not even aware that anything is happening at all. You're simply makin' money.

Fiver is an awesome site. I've seen a few of the gigs that are top-sellers and it is ridiculous just how many orders these guys and girls are getting. Most of the top sellers outsource their service because the demand is just too high. Also, most of the top ads are for creating creating no follow backlinks in different forums, a service which is easily outsourced for a very low price. Their profit margin is probably half of what you actually think they make but that money is on complete auto-pilot. I was blown away to see their traffic in the Alexa top 300. I really didn't know it was that popular but such a smart concept. I posted on Fiver about a week ago and I've already had 10 orders, just goes to show how anyone can generate this small income from home.
