Need opinions on Purchasing Behaviors

Warriors,

My current debate is how much info to disclose to my list for the purposes of getting them to buy via my affiliate travel site. Our 'competition' are the major travel sites so my debate is this. Do I:
A) Declare to my list that this is an affiliate link that I make a small profit from. (I run a free, informational site that people really appreciate). The reason for doing this disclosure would be because at times the prices are not as good via my affiliate vs. Our competition so maybe they'd be willing to pay a little more seeing that I've provided great content to them. Or
B). Not mention anything about it being an affiliate link (many probably would never know) and risk my list potentially only comparing prices and just always going with the cheaper rates and not via my affiliate.

The price differences are minimal and at times cheaper on my affiliate's site but not always.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I would mention it but not mention that it's an affiliate link. Instead, you might say something like, if you enjoy our services, please show your support by visiting our advertisers. They help keep us free. The word affiliate may be a turn off to some people.

Legally, you're required to disclose the nature of your affiliation. So you want to be legal.

Also, you say people really appreciate your free, informational site. You can weave that into your disclosure:

"By the way, if you decide to grab this offer by clicking on this link, XYZ will pay me a modest commission. Those modest commissions help me keep this site free for you."

Recently I did a webinar (hosted it, with the product creator doing the teaching) as part of an affiliate launch. I rarely act as an affiliate, which prompted one of the attendees to ask (in the chat field):

"What does Dan get out of this??"

When it came time for the live Q&A, I read the question aloud and responded, "If you decide to sign up for the course, (Guest) will throw some money at me. He'll pay me a commission."

I do think it helped my credibility when I added, "You know what? I like this course so much that in all of our conversations, I never even thought to ask (Guest) what my commission would be."

Which was true. My guest speaker laughed and confirmed that we never had discussed that. (It helps when you only promote stuff you know and like.)
