How to find thousands of money making niches

I learnt this method ages ago from the 30 day challenge people and I thought it might be worth a share here, I thought I'd give something back to the forum after recent events and how the warriors picked me right back up .

When you go into a niche you need to make sure that money is being spent in it, a good indication of that is if there are magazines being produced and how frequently they are being produced. Now this is one very simple method which will generate you thousands of niche ideas which you can develop further through research but the beauty is, you know there is money in that niche.

Go to amazon.com

Where it says search "all", click on the drop down arrow until the box appears.

Scroll down to magazine and subscriptions and click it.

Your now see that "all" is replaced by "magazine subscriptions", if that is the case, click go.

Down the left hand side is a list of loads of magazines, pick one of them and begin to drill it down.

I picked automotive, from there another 10-15 niches popped up, click on another one.

Finally I clicked onto tractors and heavy equipment.

It is that simple to find out if a market has some value to it, obviously other research will have to determine if the market is viable or not but this is a good way to start . From here I would usually dump a few keywords into market samurai or google keyword tool and see the sort of the results which would come back. Some are going to be good, some are going to be way to competetive.

I hope it helps .

Ideally, you want to find something unique, brandable and something you're passionate about. Don't just mindlessly go to Amazon and look for some niches you think are monetisable. You won't get far unless you have an absolute passion for the subject also.

    Great little tutorial here, cheers.

Thanks for the tip. It just goes to show how many niches are out there that you can make money from rather than the typical weight loss, dating, make money etc

Where is competition, there is money.
Where is money, there is a magazine.
    Lots of magazines indeed.

PS. Is it Ed Dale's challenge?

Thanks for the advice. I have never once looked at the magazine section to get ideas about niches to pursue. I'll definitely give this a shot after I wrap up my current projects! I may even pick up a magazine or two to analyze what they are actually discussing!

Finding a magazine or even a trade journal of some kind is a good start. But in all the years I've been doing this I've learned to focus on the following:

    1. Competition.
    2. Advertising.
    3. Distribution Channels.

If a market has advertisers, healthy competition, and more than a handful of ways to reach that target audience, then it's a profitable market. The key is to find the right balance between obtaining traffic and optimizing your marketing funnel and conversions to make it profitable for you.

About 7 years ago I was advised by a well-known, successful marketer to stay away from the dating niche. "It's too competitive. I tried it and got no where," he said with strong, emphatic conviction.

But then I decided to do some more research. I found out that some people were spending $25,000 on match makers, hoping to find their soulmate. There was definitely a segment of the dating market (it's HUGE by the way) that were incredibly desperate and were willing to spend nearly any amount in finding that special someone.

I'm not advising that you necessarily go into the dating niche because it's not for the faint of heart, but I am advising you to do your research; the more thorough you are in studying the market, the competition, and the channels of distribution, you'll be able to come up with a more effective strategy in how to enter that market.

What I learned was that this well-known marketer neglected the proper distribution channels. He dumped money into PPC and some banners and barely broke even. I quickly saw that what he was doing could be improved upon. He also didn't strike up and joint venture deals with any of the top people in that market.

I aslo knew I could make a product as good, if not better, than the competition, but I also found out that there were online methods that a lot of them were not using (and offline methods as well). For example, almost none of them used press releases and none of them utilized the power of radio publicity.

So remember, it's not just finding a niche, that's half the battle, the other half is figuring out the right recipe to squeeze out the profits.

I am sure I will use it to pick up some niches for me. I use also Google trends and alexa toolbar to see "the hottest searches in the world right now"

Find the niche that interest you and you have a desire about following it until you succeed.
